Okay, #WritingCommunity …a new item in my #MSWL …

Romance w/a plus size female lead who is comfortable in her own skin. And by plus size, I don’t mean a size 14. I mean a size 18 or 20ish. She’s not self deprecating, no dieting, but exercise—not for a guy but bc she likes it.

I'm drawn to ambitious, complex, & weird stories. I love intelligent characters with complex morality. I'm a fan of fantasies grounded in the contemporary world that seamlessly blends magic. If your story features romance of any kind, I'm all in.

I represent MG, young adult, & adult speculative fiction (including science fiction, fantasy, horror, & cross-genre books). In all age groups, my taste gravitates toward speculative fiction with subtle romance & lush prose. Horror, mystery, & romance elements are my soft spot.

YA Dystopian (with a romantic thread). I'd love to see something different from trials and divisions (a la Hunger Games and Divergent as much as I did love them). I know y'all are a super creative bunch and can't wait to see your new takes on dystopian.

🏅I'm always on the hunt for a steamy sports romance with a strong and interesting plot. I'm sure the Olympics is going to inspire a whole lot of stories.

In sports romance, I want drama and high stakes. Give me Olympians going head-to-head for the Gold Medal, I love actual rivalry. Give me an ex-partner being chosen as the national team’s coach. Give me genderqueers setting fire to these dumb gendered sports.

This is also the one time, every four years, when I’m very interested in sports that aren’t Figure Skating, so you might as well send me those sports romances (No hokey, please. I’ve tried, it’s not for me.) #MSWL

I expect romance, even horror romance, to bring joy. That means a HEA, yes, but also if it’s past campy melodrama, it’s probably too dark for my tastes. And if one of the protagonists dies, it’s women’s fiction/upmarket, and I’m not looking to sign those. #MSWL

6. Guys, I'm being super vulnerable here, but? I just can't quit contemporary omegaverse romance. I am determined to sell one to NY. Preferably with a terrible pun on the word Knot in the title.

2. Rockstar romances. And by this, I mean books that actively take place in the music industry, show touring life, shows, songwriting, etc. I don't want wallpaper rockstar romances!

1: Kpop romances. I am so serious here. I have read some great self-pub and trad pubbed kpop romances, BUT I NEED MORE. The world needs more!

In YA, I am open to a wide variety of genres. Specifically. I’m looking for:

Romance
-contemporary with a strong hook
-laugh-out-loud romcoms
-speculative twists (timeloops, vampires, magic, ghosts, etc.)

I am also open to the following in Adult, though prefer if they have a strong romantic subplot:
-horror
-mystery (a la Knives Out)
-thriller/suspense
-women’s fiction
-grounded/accessible SFF

I am NOT typically the right fit for historical/regency, medical, Christmas, cowboy/western, or dark romances. I’m also not the right fit for police/detective love interests, and heavy/serious romantic thrillers or suspense.
