Lastly, as always, in all areas my focus is on uplifting marginalized communities, so stories about BIPOC folk, queer folk, disabled folk, folks with mental illness, etc are what I'm looking for. 9/10

Commercial contemporaries! Any fiction that features queer/BIPOC characters finding their way in life is for me! Think LUSTER, IT'S BEEN A PLEASURE, NONI BLAKE, or the fabulous genre-hopping THE VERIFIERS.

Historical YA! Think under-explored BIPOC/queer stories like LAST NIGHT AT THE TELEGRAPH CLUB or THE DOWNSTAIRS GIRL and fun, academia-heavy gothics like ANATOMY!

Upper-YA & Adult Fantasy! Think historical reads like THE LAST MAGICIAN, A MARVELLOUS LIGHT, and BABEL and/or fun queer/BIPOC contemporaries like CARRY ON or LEGENDBORN. I'm not looking for epic/high fantasies, but send your grounded fantasies my way!

Historical romances! Anything that comps to Evie Dunmore, Cat Sebastian, or Mimi Matthews with a queer, feminist, and/or BIPOC focus is for me! Also send holiday historicals like A HOLIDAY BY GASLIGHT my way!

⭐️Thrillers, psychological horror, supernatural, mystery, and speculative fiction that radically represents and explores queer, female, and BIPOC rage, revenge, and reclamation of power (think Elatsoe, Iron Widow, Sadie)

Would love to see a YA "Bad Sisters" or a Sarah Dessen-type novel with BIPOC main characters. Would also love an MG with some badass main characters. How about a PB with a crazy, funny twist at the end? #MSWL

What I do love to see in the YA Contemporary field are thrillers, hauntings that can toe the line of horror without going overboard, rom-coms, friendship break ups, and grandparent relationships. I especially love to see all this with BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ characters. #mswl

In addition to this, I’m packed on adult romance and rom-com writers right now, but will always be open for the select few that catch my eye. I specifically look for and ask for marginalized voices here from BIPOC. I also have a soft spot for K-dramas. #mswl
