• Fresh, complex aduly fantasy! I do not want to see fae, elves, or other commonly-utilized fantasy creatures. Show me characters realizing their world is way, way bigger (maybe magically?) Than they realized. Bring me intense relationships here. Family drama. FANTASY CLOTHES.Ignoring the typo... this is always on my wishlist for adult fantasy!!! Also: women with magic of all ages and stages of life, beautiful&interactive fantasy settings, rich cultural influence, and surprising new applications of magic or fantasy elements. #MSWL 1/
#MSWL I need a book about a little girl who struggles to keep her bonnet on her head as she sleeps...especially if she’s a wild sleeper. The struggle is real.

My fever-addled self also rewatched HEREDITARY today & it reminded me of a #MSWL I’ve mentioned before: horror that deals with grief (in both children’s & adult lit). Horror that’s intertwined with grief. Like HEREDITARY, THE BABADOOK, A MONSTER CALLS. Please & thank you. 🖤

My two cents on YA sci-fi—it works best when the science fiction elements line up with actual teen struggles. Uglies and Divergent are two great examples. Body image? Cliques and belonging? These books use science fiction to speak directly to the unique needs of teensI’m all for YA sci-fi, but totally agree 👇👇👇, so if you can show me how your YA SF aligns to teen struggles, then #MSWL, y’all.

#MSWL:
Take a society whose economy, development, and peace are necessarily and realistically built on a foundation of cruelty and injustice.
Some characters fight to right these wrongs. The fall of the old world order visits immense suffering on other oppressed innocents.
Go.

Whenever I talk about wanting more adult fiction, I get DMs and emails asking for specifics, so... here’s an explanation and a starter pack.
I like genre-blending novels that are character driven, and far more about relationships than world building. #MSWL

Started watching Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet and... wow, I so would love an adult novel about working in game dev.
I remember adoring You by Austin Grossman, and would just love something a bit more contemporary. #MSWL

I think my new editor soulmate is on to something... "What happens if someone is murdered during their Amish Rumspringa? Would their family ever know what happened to them?"
🙏Someone write this please! #MSWL

I’ve been in such a Mood for two very different kinds of books:
(1) Southern fiction a la Kristy Woodson Harvey, with warmth, setting as character, female friendships and/or multigenerational families, and secrets/hardships that come to light. Can be A or YA!

While I do love the classic AND THEN THERE WERE NONE set up, I'd love to get more locked-room mysteries with unconventional settings. #MSWL
