Heists, heists, and more heists. The bigger the shenanigans, the better. I love to especially see character relationships and arcs being tested/explored as the mission goes on. Think Portrait of Thief, Six of Crows, Bullet Train, etc.
YA romcoms or YA contemporary with romantic elements. Especially if they're queer! Think Heartstopper, Young Royals, You Should See Me in a Crown, I Kissed Shara Wheeler, etc. The cuter and fluffier, the better.
Stories with the entrenched characters arcs, cults, unreliable narrators, eeriness, and survival component of Yellowjackets. I am OBSESSED with this show to say the least and would love to see these elements in the YA thriller/horror space or the adult speculative space.
I will be reopening to queries as of 01/23/23 so I think it's time for a big #MSWL thread. My general wishlist can be found below but I wanted to get into some specifics for the new year as I plan to grow my list.
michael gray 💞 preorder IF I CAN GIVE YOU THAT @graybullai am once again begging for more trans femme YA protagonists written by trans femme authors!!!!!
My new #MSWL is live on my site! Mark your calendars for Valentines Day, when I repoen to #amquerying writers!
So, what am I seeking? This year I'm prioritizing queer specfic, BIPOC voices, and romance novels of all kinds. Let's dive into the specifics!
Just added a little bullet point to my "not for me" list on my #mswl
"Would love to see more psychological horror in my query inbox—especially anything with a remote location (“abandoned” anything is a major selling point for me!), a haunted house (house as character!), and/or a final girl."
Letterboxd @letterboxdThe trailer for @FocusFeatures’s Polite Society has just dropped. 👀 pic.twitter.com/JHpSR4FT8X
I want to see this!! And also so many things I love: sisterhood conflict, funny yet thrilling/suspenseful, and girls who do martial arts...definitely #mswl!
Young Adult/New Adult: I am open to magical realism, contemporary fiction, thriller (+), mystery, and low fantasy. I am especially on the lookout for a sports story (where sports is the center of the story, like the shows Spinning Out, Pitch).
Middle Grade: I am looking for mystery stories! I also welcome magical realism and contemporary. In contemporary, I am especially looking for a story where sports is a big part.
Elisa Houot @ElisaHouotI am opening back up to queries today! Time for an updated #MSWL 🧵 QueryManager.com/ElisaHouot
I am always looking for Picture Books (non-rhyming)! I tend to prefer funny stories and stories that focus on family, but I love a good unexpected narrator!

Lily Potkin @MissPotkinSo my friend called me this morning to talk about something that happened to her last night. She’s been trying to find someone to date…extremely casually. She doesn’t have time for a full blown relationship and basically all she wants is a nice man to have sex with.
So a WF that has this type of single status energy and best friend support is definitely on my #MSWL now, because these dating apps drag me for filth on a very regular basis, and my girls are always there to laugh at the foolery.
