News! I'm officially an assistant literary agent (in training!) at @TheTobiasAgency! I'm not taking queries yet, but I am starting to take pitches at select events. I'll be tweeting what I'll be looking for with pitches! 1/3 #amagenting #writers #authors #books

Adding sporror to my #MSWL immediately

Literary Agent
As stated on my #MSWL on the official MSWL website and the Metamorphosis website, as far as fantasy I’m really only looking for magical realism and urban fantasy. I prefer low fantasy and if it’s very high concept it’s probably not for me.

Not me staying up googling Waffle House Wendy after just hearing about it for the first time. Man, I need someone to send me a book like this. Disregarded fry cook hiding her identity until her two worlds are forced to collide…#mswl

Literary Agent
#MSWL would love to find a manga artist. Wether feudal or modern, I’m open to all stories in this area

"Seeking realistic explorations of mental health topics, like HELLO I WANT TO DIE PLEASE FIX ME by Anna Mehler Paperny and REASONS TO STAY ALIVE by Matt Haig."

For fun - my #MSWL as vibes from songs that I love! (Bonus: A glipse into my many and varied musical tastes.) It might be the lyrics, the music, the video/world or just the whole thing!

Literary Agent
Mysteries and thrillers are a category I want to move into (particularly in YA) but I am more drawn to character driven stories than one that focus on a huge plot twist. This will likely be more commercial or upmarket fiction than strict genre mysteries. #MSWL

Literary Agent
I would also love to see more Upmarket and Commercial/Women’s fiction (think compulsive book club fiction). I know this can be a broad category, but I am particularly drawn to books that play with power structures, friendship dynamics and odd familial structures. #MSWL

Literary Agent
Some tropes I love: enemies to lovers, workplace romance, fake dating, whatever the opposite of small town romance is. I am also down for a supernatural element and love the current contemporary/paranormal mashup we are seeing! #MSWL

Literary Agent
I am especially looking for Queer romance and romance featuring disabled people! I have been getting more of these in my inbox but not NEARLY enough. Please send me them. #MSWL

Literary Agent
Romance—way more of it! Rom-Coms so funny that make me snort out my coffee, historicals with so much tension I want to pull my hair out, adventure/caper romance that takes me on a nailbiting ride or presents me with a mystery to solve. #MSWL

Literary Agent
I am primarily looking for Adult and Young Adult projects this year! While I do a little bit of everything, these are the areas I am most hoping to build out. All of the following genres and #MSWL's will apply to both adult and YA projects!

Literary Agent
Hello! It is the new year (can we still say it’s new?) and I am hungry for new projects to sink my teeth into! Here are a few things at the top of my #MSWL that I’d love for you to query me with! 📚📚

Literary Agent
Those are the main things I can think of right now but I'm always up for weird plots/settings, character driven books, queer rep, dark academia, and speculative elements.

Literary Agent
Ensemble casts having to figure stuff out, solve mysteries, or escape danger. Especially in a small town or close knit setting. Think Stranger Things, On My Block, or All of Us are Dead.

Literary Agent
YA revenge/burn everything down stories. I absolutely LOVED Do Revenge and would fight for a book that encapsulated the same energy.

Literary Agent
Feel good MG that explores growing up and beginning to figure yourself out, whether in a contemporary or fantastical setting. First crushes welcome! Think Owl House, The Art of Running Away, Avatar, Sir Callie, Thanks A Lot Universe, etc.
