Last day of #AutismAcceptanceMonth though in my house it runs all year.
Reminder, that I’m actively looking for stories from neurodivergent folks that celebrate neurodiversity, in my agent life. #MSWL
There’s news coming on some current projects, and I’d love to see more. ❤️

I'M NOT SORRY BUT HOW THE FUCK ARE Y'ALL GONNA BAN PEOPLE LIVING TOGETHER. PEOPLE. LIVING. TOGETHER. im gonna throw up pic.twitter.com/OHnrFFXwJkThis might seem like a weird #MSWL but I think I want more books that approach how our future housing issue is going to look. Obviously that is not the plot but you know

Lauren is open to queries on QM! @laurenspieller
I signed a new client less than 2 weeks ago and I'm already ready to do it again. If you're starting to query, please keep me in mind! #WritingCommunityI'd really like to see more suspense/thriller submission from POC. #mswl #WritingCommunity

I myself am particularly interested in Maya, Aztec and Egyptian mythology. But would LOVE to learn more about others.

tl;dr When I took a fantasy literature class in college, it started with British folklore, then King Arthur then LOTR. These are still the foundations of most fantasy stories. Why?

Literary Agent
I'd also love to see historical fantasy (which is hard because you have to world build AND do tons of research, I know) about very specific times and places that aren't England during medieval times.

Literary Agent
So I would love to see new new tropes emerge to decolonize the genre (both kidlit and adult). Or even to turn those traditions on their head. One book I offered on and still wish I got to rep was THE STAR TOUCHED QUEEN by @Roshani_Chokshi which mixed Indian and Greek mythology

Further, our fantasy now is very heavily influenced by Tolkien and he set out specifically to write a "mythology for England". And what I'd love to see is a "mythology of [X non-western] country." (2/?)

Loved talking to Jera Brown for @WritersDigest about pitch contests, but loved even more getting to shout out @sydneyhegele and @larsonrichard *delicious* pitches from #pitmad, why they worked for me, and add some curiosity to the books they're both working on! 🦤 pic.twitter.com/xSQ6E9qzUUI suppose this is also some insight into how I look at longer queries and what I'm interested in as a literary agent. Since I'll be opening to queries later this summer--I'm looking for more of what these two have! <3
But here's the longer #MSWL too: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/cass…

Courtney Stevenson @courtney_ps
All written in the most fluid, engaging, often hilarious stream of consciousness voice, that feels both true to the time period and makes her world feel vibrant to modern readers. (Not easy to do, but so key to historical fiction!)She’s a total delight. Give her a read. (And if it wasn’t clear: #mswl for all of this in a BIG way.)

“Nonfiction proposals with an intersectional feminist angle immediately catch my attention. A few issues I’d like to see examined: occupational segregation, equal pay, and emotional labor.” @ceciliaclyra #MSWL psliterary.com/submissions/
