In literary fiction, I’m interested in messy people making tough choices, campus novels, unlikeable narrators (especially women who either gaslight, girlboss, or gatekeep) who may or may not win you over, and atmospheric writing styles.

I'm closed to queries for the next couple months for dedicated reading time, but in honor of #MSWL Day I redid my MSWL! I am looking for all types of romance, SFF (plus horror), mysteries, thrillers, YA, and some small subsets of literary and commercial fiction!

#MSWL Literary book about a modern cult with an unexpected leader.

As for me, I'm always looking for genre-blending literary fiction, accessible sci-fi and fantasy, diverse and inclusive kid-lit, and moving non-fiction.

Thriller/mystery/suspense: Murder mysteries, especially with dual timelines (WHERE SECRETS LIE by Eva V. Gibson). I like more focus on character than is typical for these areas (Maureen Johnson’s TRULY DEVIOUS series) and very literary writing (I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU again).

#MSWL I’d love to see more fantasies inspired by non-western mythologies and folklore! If it could be a good fit for the Rick Riordan Presents list I’d love to see it, but also looking for the weirder or more literary or less humorous stuff too!

#MSWL While I’ll rep any genre, I am particularly drawn to fantasy, speculative, magical realism, and fabulism. I love stories that marry a fast paced plot with literary writing and strong emotions (who doesn’t, I know, sorry). A great mystery also always gets my attention.

Of course, per previous MSWLs, I’m always interested in elevating underrepresented/diverse voices. In terms of writing, I always am drawn to literary, but am open to more commercial as long as it has strong characters—it’s all about the characters for me!
