#MSWL

Inspired by @laurenspieller I would like to say that any story that takes place on a cruise ship is automatically scary, for me. you can do a rom-com but if it's on a cruise ship, I will think it's a horror. Aaand now I want a horror rom com on a ship. #MSWL .

In fiction: speculative, magical realism, horror, romance. In NF: narrative NF, memoir, biography, immigrant stories, cultural commentary, people in history, lesser known professions and crafts (builders, designers, architects), musicians/artists/creators, daredevils, athletes.

Seeking #bodyhorror Mona Awad, ROUGE; Silvia Moreno-Garcia, MEXICAN GOTHIC; T. Kingfisher, WHAT MOVES THE DEAD; Augustina Bazterrica, TENDER IS THE FLESH #mswl

I'm still not the best fit for SF (aside from 5-min in the future/grounded SF or the aforementioned horror), or books that are sports-centric or where MC is an athlete. I'm not open to adult fiction (for now), poetry/novels-in-verse, non-fiction, picture books, early readers.

Another #mswl I've been wanting to find forEVER is a genre-blended YA sci-fi/horror akin to Alien (or even The Thing I think would count). Atmospheric, not super tech heavy, isolated, far from home, trapped with an extraterrestrial horror. Those kinda vibes.

I'm always a fan of horror and/or spooky goth vibes. Some faves: Fear Street (books AND Netflix trilogy), Stephen King, The Addams Family, The Thief of Always by Clive Barker, Coraline (movie), early seasons of Supernatural, Final Destination, Anne Rice, Alexis Henderson, etc.

I'm also leaning more heavily into my love of genre fiction, especially fantasy and horror and books that genre-blend. I would love to find more epic fantasy with fantastic world-building, a la Tomi Adeyemi, Claire M. Andrews, Katy Rose Pool, Natasha Ngan, etc.

I would love to see this in any of the above age categories, especially if it is fantasy, sci fi or horror. I love manga art styles too! I'd also be open to retellings here esp set in modern day! 10/?

Adult/YA Horror:

I will say it takes A LOT to scare me. If you're story can keep me up at night 👀! I want monsters, sentient settings and scares that mess with your mind! I want MCs that can't trust what they see or reality is so blurred they can't tell the difference! 8/?

I also really want science fiction horror! Please send me your horror set in space! Show me science getting out of control or defying all possibilities and breaking loose! 7/?

I love genre blends like sci fantasy and strong horror elements. I also really want to see queernorm worlds, accessible fantasies and diverse casts.

MG Horror:

Again, I love all of this, but really want haunted houses or schools! Would also love to see some monter hunting or sentient natural settings like forests or lakes. Have a creepy summer camp? Yes that is for me! 3/?
