Another #mswl I've been wanting to find forEVER is a genre-blended YA sci-fi/horror akin to Alien (or even The Thing I think would count). Atmospheric, not super tech heavy, isolated, far from home, trapped with an extraterrestrial horror. Those kinda vibes.

I would also love to find something that takes a big swing and lands it, especially in YA. Epic but accessible, character-driven but with lyrical or evocative writing. As an example,
@Tiff_Liao
told me that she would love to find a YA Cloud Atlas and my eyes went π»π€© #mswl

Since itβs a new year and I'm starting to (finally) catch up on fulls, I thought I'd tweet out a list of qualities Iβm looking for in the books I take on, with some examples of faves that fit those categories. Unless otherwise stated, all of these apply to YA + MG only. π§΅Happy #MSWL Day! Hereβs mine again:

When I was like 14, me and a few mates would βwagβ French class and hide out in the soundproof drum room until lunch time. This went on for a few weeks when one day we discovered a βtrap doorβ beneath the carpet tiled floor under the drum kit. We of course opened the trap door.. twitter.com/spur_of/statusβ¦Literary Agent

If somebody wanted to write an Utena-style pseudo-contemporary diverse fantasy with sword-fighting, butch and femme queer girls, and colorful, floral imagery, and then have their agent sub it to me, I wouldn't be upset. I'm just sayin'. #MSWL pic.twitter.com/SwBm0qMz5YThis is still #MSWL!

Kids putting their teeth under their pillows is the most occultist shit in the world. Yes, child, put the discarded bone under your pillow. if you are lucky the tiny demon will come and make her purchase. Sell your bones for riches, my child, your youth will be spent soon.Literary Agent
I was just thinking about the scene in Goonies where they knock over the water cooler and find the hidden door in the fireplace. I would love to find a book that has that same level of adventure. +Booby traps! +Voice! +Diverse rep -Problematic jokes and stereotypes. #MSWL

I would love to find a teen girl super spy/action adventure. Something that can be pitched as Kim Possible meets Kingsman. Or in the vein of Kiki Strike (which I havenβt read, admittedly). #MSWL
