Hi all! Here is my current #mswl! In short, I'm focused on developing four areas of my clientele in 2019: (1) PB author-illustrators; (2) MG fiction; (3) Graphic novels; and (4) Nonfiction across all kid lit genres. Hit me up, queryers! cleliagore.com/2019/01/11/201…
Let's kick off 2019 with #mswl! I'd love to see:
- LGBTQ+ middle grade and YA, any genre, any time period!
- Contemporary YA with a spec twist (think Still Life with Tornado or Dig)
- Literally ANYTHING that evokes Tillie Walden's On a Sunbeam
- Graphic novels or memoirs
Correction #2: Middle Grade: Humor--if you can make me laugh, I'll sign you up. Literary: I've never had a Newbery-winning client and I want one. Adventure stories, grounded fantasy (but not epic fantasy), sci-fi. #ownvoices for sure. Artists, MG graphic novels! #MSWL
Agent friends, my #mswl is overflowing! Please think of me in 2019 for exciting new:
-memoirs that bring to mind a YA Educated—delving deep into an author’s journey through and/or out of an insular community
-illustrated or graphic novel middle grade nonfiction or memoir (1/3)

9/ #MSWL: Middle-grade and YA graphic novels about identity, particularly coming-of-age stories that explore relationships and friendships with emotional depth. Books like This One Summer, Real Friends, and American Born Chinese.
Jim McCarthy @JimMcCarthy528Hello, friends! Haven’t been here in awhile and probably won’t be popping back in too much for reasons I won’t bore you with. But I wanted to open the year with some #MSWL. I’m always on the lookout!
I’d love to find some wonderful author-illustrators in any space from middle-grade to adult in fiction or nonfiction. Can be for pure graphic novels or more mashed-up, partially illustrated projects! #MSWL
Back to Work Day is here! Happy January 2, 2019!
Agents: let’s hang out 👀
A new year reminder that I’m looking for diverse #MG, #YA, and #graphicnovels - you can learn more at my #MSWL below 👇🏼
This year, I'd love to see more trade non-fiction for children and teens that goes beyond a traditional biography! Show me science, history, cultural movements, our planet, etc. in ways I haven't seen before! (bonus points if it's a graphic novel!) #NonFiction #pb #mg #ya #mswl
My annual it’s-dark-outside-at-4pm #mswl for a YA or middle grade narrative set at summer camp has arrived right on schedule. The more queer the better, must have emotional stakes, graphic novels welcome.
Stacy Whitman @stacylwhitmanI've often said I'd LOVE a YA retelling of Much Ado, and I stand by that, but I'd love a feminist reclaiming of it, too. That's a #MSWL, by the way--YA graphic novel retelling of Much Ado about Nothing starring modern-day POC teens. What would such a retelling look like?
I would EXTREMELY love this. #MSWL
Stacy Whitman @stacylwhitmanRewatching the 90s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and what hits me every time is that I forget that the plot revolves so much around the accusation of Hero not being a virgin. The parts I remember are the running around conspiring to make Benedic and Beatrice fall in love w/ each other.

"I am looking for more clients creating beautifully illustrated books! Graphic novels, graphic memoirs, graphic nonfiction—anything and everything you're working on, for any age group." @msmariavicente #MSWL bit.ly/2P9Z0aX
