Just saw @rivercitygirls while browsing for new games and now I want a spunky, over-the-top contemporary YA about two friends (or rivals) who need to work together to save their SOs that doesn't take itself too seriously, plus humor and MCs that pack a punch.

I desperately want YA contemporary. Powerful female friendships fraught w/tension & drama. An updated YA Girl: Interrupted. Show me how a peer catastrophe in high school truly feels like the end of the world. Validate those moments & their impact.

General #MSWL stuff: magic/spells gone wrong, ghosts, resurrections, possessions, the end of the world scenarios, characters who get themselves into weird/messed up situations that push them to their emotional limits, & friendship stories, especially friendships that ended badly.

#MSWL Transitioning from high school to early college years with a lot of girl friendships, awkwardness, and tons of humor. I want to feel like I'm reading a YA Pitch Perfect with Anna Kendrick's voice in my head.

I want to find more #picturebooks with classic illustrations and timeless themes! I especially have a soft spot for stories featuring siblings, intergenerational relationships, and friends. #MSWL

All ages: Female friendship, gender subversion, Southern Gothics, wordplay and puns, under-explored chapters in history, Jewish characters beyond WWII/shtetl, economic #diversity, genre blends, stories set in the deep South, rural America, and the Southwest. That's my #MSWL.
