I've recieved almost 90 queries in 24 hours and I've only made a handful of requests, but the ones I have requested have all been voice-driven with strong opening pages. I do love how much feminist horror, and fantasy I'm getting from marginalized identities. Keep those coming!

What I'm seeing that I love in my query inbox rn: queries with CLEAR stakes, opening pages/lines that grab my attention immediatley, comp titles that make sense and don't feel like they are just put in there, and lots of genre blending (especially with horror/fantasy).

Adult Fiction- writing style preferences vary from literary/more prose driven, to voicey and fast paced. However, I'm not a good fit for contemporary and lean heavily towards speculative, witchy, horror, SFF/F. I'm getting alot of LGBTQIA contemporary romances which I love as a reader, but don't rep.

-I have several cozy fantasy/science fiction on my list already so I'm looking for diverse cozy SFF this time. I'd love a queer cozy or BIPOC cozy fantasy or science fiction with a great romance. I usually prefer romance secondary to plot, not the whole plot. #MSWL

-I'm still looking for a fantasy or science fiction with a murder mystery plot. Should be more traditional or cozy mystery rather than a dark, crime mystery. Something light and fun with a speculative fiction setting or element.

-I'm still open to finding more self-published authors in the Adult market (SFF, Romantasy, or Mystery) who want help exploiting their retained sub-rights. Audio rights being at the top of that list. #MSWL

#YA : again, I’m looking for high concept stories with a strong hook, cozy fantasy with a strong voice and unforgettable characters, unique or fresh take on vampires or the eternal one trope. Cryptids? I want to believe.

- I love love love classic fantasy, but I’m very easily bored by a basic sword and sorcery storylines. I want something strange and fairy tale-like, and I want to know the characters deeply.

Not a fit for contemporary romance reality TV. It needs a genre element to really pique my interest.

Also, I am still so obsessed with idea of poison dresses and using "female" arts (sewing, knitting, etc) for spy craft. Cold War spy novel in a fantasy book, not focused on a princess? #MSWL

Comedic fantasy, if that is a thing? Like I want a high fantasy book, but like what if it is a high school reunion and you are the failed chosen one? Why do we take high fantasy so seriously? #MSWL

As any good fantasy nerd, I love fantasy. In MG and YA, but I am picky nowadays. So it has to feel different. But give me high concept stories. Give me beautiful writing. Give me morally complex characters. #MSWL
