Upmarket or book club fiction that blends genres, including speculative (always enjoy some spookiness!), fantasy/sci-fi, historical, mystery/thriller, etc. (1/10)

My favorite fantasy trope ever is the Planet of the Apes twist, i.e. when your strange and old timey fantasy world is secretly the future. Send me that please! #mswl

Something I can’t get enough of is REALITY TV with a SFF, horror, or thriller/mystery element. #mswl

Think The Selection, Hunger Games, though doesn’t have to be YA.

Not a fit for contemporary romance reality TV. It needs a genre element to really pique my interest.

Also, I am still so obsessed with idea of poison dresses and using "female" arts (sewing, knitting, etc) for spy craft. Cold War spy novel in a fantasy book, not focused on a princess? #MSWL

Comedic fantasy, if that is a thing? Like I want a high fantasy book, but like what if it is a high school reunion and you are the failed chosen one? Why do we take high fantasy so seriously? #MSWL

As any good fantasy nerd, I love fantasy. In MG and YA, but I am picky nowadays. So it has to feel different. But give me high concept stories. Give me beautiful writing. Give me morally complex characters. #MSWL

I am looking for commercial fiction across the board, but the particular areas I’d like to grow are romance, SFF & mysteries! 💕🛸🧚🕵️

MG: escapism is really the key word here! I love action and adventure whether it’s contemporary like Spy School or fantasy like Wilderlore. I’m drawn to big hearted emotions, wondrous magic, and zany humor

YA: fantasy/speculative with easy entry/accessible worldbuilding, or contemporary settings with magical elements like monsters or witchcraft. Either propulsive like a VE Schwab or cozy like the Spellshop or Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. Open to crossover but has to have that teen voice.

YA: Romance! I love forbidden/star crossed lovers, forced proximity, enemies/rivals to lovers and low stakes feel-good love stories including queer stories! Open to both contemporary, romantasy, fantasy subplots, the works!

What I'm specifically looking for atm:

YA + MG horror/horror romance
YA + MG mystery
Stories that read like Fright Krewe & Blood At The Root (I beg)

MG: I’d love fresh fantasy with fantastic voice, contemporary adventure along the lines of James Ponti’s works, shorter illustrated works for younger readers, and I’m always looking to laugh.

YA: high stakes fantasy with atmospheric setting, a cozy fantasy that makes me laugh and gives me all the feels, a story set in a competitive subculture, and I’m always open to a fresh take on vampires or the “eternal ones” trope.

I also want to build my list of exciting, meaningful, fun, and funny MG fiction! Again, I especially hope to see SFF and horror submissions with original premises and clear conflicts, but I'm also open to contemporary stories and mysteries. In everything, I hope to see strong messages! #MSWL

For adults, I'm on the hunt for hooky commercial fiction and women's fiction, especially with a focus on friendship; thoughtful speculative fiction; swoon-worthy romantic comedies and paranormal romance; and a few accessible, grounded fantasy, romantasy, horror, and science fiction novels. #MSWL

First: YA! Half of the projects that I fell in love with last year were YA fantasy, so I'm craving more! I'm also open to contemporary, romance, mystery, horror, and sci-fi.
