🥳I am officially open to queries🥳
Let's chat about the tropes I'm looking for, and what makes me dive into a manuscript! Here’s my #MSWL for more info on the books I want to help people discover!
"Seeking voice-driven contemporary YA like EMERGENCY CONTACT by Mary H.K. Choi, DON'T READ THE COMMENTS by Eric Smith, WE ARE OKAY by Nina LaCour, and LET ME HEAR A RHYME by Tiffany D. Jackson."
It's #MSWL Day! Find mine here: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/carl… In short, I like books with black covers, and I like books with pink covers. I rep #YA, #MG, mystery, suspense, horror, thriller, pop fiction & contemporary romance.
It's #MSWL Day, & what I'm most excited about right now is LOVE stories! Please, please gimme 'em! Also, I'd love to see thrillers in the adult & YA space. There's more–because I'm greedy like that–so check out the new manuscript wishlist page. Thanks! manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/Jemi…
I'm not actively looking for new MG at this time, and I'm being selective with new YA but still very excited about the ones I get excited about. Send me your contemporaries & your very fresh-feeling fantasy in particular!
In middle grade, I’m always hungry for action, adventure, magic, and humor. It can be fantasy or contemporary, or a little bit of both. Give me your fresh takes on magical school settings or just fun friendship stories filled with hijinks. #MSWL
As for children’s, I’m always open to YA in almost all genres, especially fantasy, contemporary, and thriller. I just want strong concepts and smart MCs with engaging voices that pull me along for the ride and make me want to root for them the entire way. #MSWL
I want to see fun and sweet contemporary romances with high concept hooks in the adult space as well. Think Lily Chu’s The Stand In or Emily Henry’s Book Lovers. I’m probably not the right agent for more serious romance stories. #MSWL
Happy #MSWL Day! I’d love to see…
Generally fic that gets a little weird and makes me feel things (see Lisa Taddeo’s ANIMAL, Jessamine Chan’s THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD MOTHERS)
A YA crossover witchy or obsessive girlhood friendship
An unusual & chaotic contemp workplace romance
It's #MSWL Day, so I'll post a few items on my wish list. I'm still eager to find indigenous authors with authentic stories from PB to adult. I'd like more contemporary MG & YA by diverse voices, including LGBTQ+, but not issue books. #WritingCommunity #amquerying #amagenting
Sub genres I’m looking for:
Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Feminism, Film/TV, Folklore, Gothic Horror, Humor, Magical Realism, Multicultural, Paranormal, Romantic Comedy, Self-help, Social Issues, Study Abroad Stories, Time Travel, Travel
In YA contemporary, I love wit and charm & need to be laughing, even with stories that make me cry. Give me stories about the messy side of teenage life, in the vein of Netflix's SEX EDUCATION. I'm not the best fit for wholly issue-centric books.
In contemp fantasy I am looking for hooky, fresh premises like IF YOU COULD SEE THE SUN & LEGENDBORN in YA, and on the adult side, speculative thrillers like NINTH HOUSE, BLACK WATER SISTER, and MAGIC FOR LIARS.
Contemporary college stories
Interconnected standalone series
Heartbreaking stories about young women finding their identities
Deals gone wrong
Marriage of convenience
Campy genre fiction
I'm excited to be kicking off the weekend with a sneak peak at my #MSWL for this year! I'm on the hunt for for contemporary romantic fiction, specifically for the booktok hungry new adult, 20+ markets! #romancebooks #amquerying #amwritng @DA_Agency
