Some general info:
- I’m currently only accepting agented submissions
- I’m very actively seeking adult horror for #Nightfire, so that’s my priority
- BUT I’m open to YA horror, and adult and YA fantasy, scifi, and thrillers as well

My Friday #mswl: a story with an "Arrival"-like twist that unfurls across many layers rather than pulls the rug out from under you

Huzzah #MSWL day! I'm still yearning for this speculative, twisty YA, something ambitious in scope and structure that doesn't forsake emotions or characters.

Also, according to my high school writing journal, one of my long-standing favorite things in romance is an extremely, explosively hot person who's deeply into their more average-looking love interest. #MSWL

SPEAKING of tropes, have you heard about Carina Adores, our new contemporary romance trope-driven LGBTQ+ line? I would love to see your submissions. You can find more info here: carinapress.com/blog/carina-ad… #MSWL

Give me something like the Crowley/Aziraphale pairing dynamic in Good Omens, but overt romance. (Yes, even more overt than that.) Doesn't have to be paranormal—I'm talking loose character types here. #MSWL

I would be remiss if I didn't talk a little bit about how much I love fake relationships. Other fave tropes include one bed (šŸ›ļø), opposites attract, return to hometown, and road trip. (Can you include them all?!) #MSWL

Magical realism is a thing I absolutely love. Think Practical Magic, but more romance. #MSWL

Some of my favorite romance tropes include enemies to lovers, marriage/relationship of convenience, and forced proximity. If the characters are annoyed by how into each other they are, the book is probably for me! #MSWL

I am INTO the possibility of paranormal romance making a comeback. Would love (LOVE) a slow burn romance in this genre. Make it hurt! (Metaphorically.) #MSWL

Show me a foodie character--kitchen/chef setting not necessary! Someone who shows love through the food they make for others, however that may work for your story. #MSWL

For a long time now I've been looking for a contemporary romance in which an only child/lonely person is welcomed into a huge, sprawling, loving family. Think While You Were Sleeping. (We're looking now for romances for 2020's holiday season, hint hint.) #MSWL

In terms of character types, if I had to pic a favourite it would be, by a mile, the grumpy hero, especially one who's paired with a softer/more extroverted counterpart. This is my enemies-to-lovers catnip. #MSWL
