✨Old houses and buildings with history and secrets of their own. (Generally, I love stories where the setting is essentially a character.)

✨Contemporary fantasy and books that showcase magic in our world.
✨Specifically adult: a fresh take on a crime procedural with a female lead (bucking tropes and stereotypes).
✨Multigenerational storytelling and ancestral magic.

Some things I am currently looking for across age groups:
✨More humor—we could all use more laughter right now, right?!
✨Kids falling in love with the outdoors—camping, urban gardens, farms, really anything to do with nature.

I will also add there is a tendency when looking at YA fantasy to over-simplify with "This fairy tale/classic re-telling is overdone" but when you look at it, it's all white/western retellings. I am 100% open to retellings from new perspectives. #MSWL #AskECLA

I will forever want more survival stories-- Hatchet was one of my faves growing up, I loved THE RAFT, OBLIVION ROAD, FIVE TOTAL STRANGERS, etc. If they're snowed in, stranded at sea, stuck in a desert, I want to read it. MG & YA. #MSWL #AskECLA
