Okay hear me out....YA novel w/ MC who somehow meets the FBI agent (or whatever group) assigned to monitor/watch MC (like how we all have one) and hilarity ensues. Agent is just trying to be helpful (like whenever MC is looking for something) and MC just so annoyed? #MSWL
Nicola @NicolaYoonAnd the secret’s out! Beyond thrilled to announce that I co-write a novel with 5 of my favorite writers ever! Swoony love stories with Black kids falling for each other during a NYC blackout! @brownbookworm @angiecthomas @WriteinBK @getnicced @AshWrites
This sounds AMAZING! I can't wait to read it. And (I've been saying this A LONG TIME NOW) querying authors–particularly Black authors–please send me your love stories! I'm dying for YA romance & romcoms by Black people and other people of color. #mswl
How about a #middlegrade or #YAlit that kind of comps to A Night at the Museum, only set in the Louvre or the Guggenheim or something? Even better if it's written by/about #BIPOC! #mswl #WritingCommunity #kidlit #scbwi
"I loved THE DREAMERS by Karen Thompson Walker. Send me more spec fiction, even better if it has an environmental angle. Adult, YA, and graphic novels welcome!” @readbystephanie #MSWL psliterary.com/submissions/
I feel like I haven't stated this outright so if you have a polyamorous relationship in YA or YA with crossover potential, I'd LOVE to see it.
The more queer it is, the better.
I'm on the first episode of Dash & Lily, and I NEED more YA romance novels like this. #MSWL
I'm not open to queries right now but if you have a book like this let me know. I might make an exception. 😏
How about a YA art heist or DaVinci Code type story (maybe without the religious stuff though)? Something super high stakes, quick pace, lots of museums and/or cool architecture, but also with... a f/f/ romance built in? I'd read the crap out of that. #MSWL
On the YA side, whether fantastical or realistic, I gravitate toward books w/ high concept hooks and stories anchored in themes of identity, sexuality, & loss & grief. (Grief & sex can be complex labyrinths to navigate, as we know...).
I'd love a super romantic, totally swept off their feet, passionate YA love story, featuring Black characters (written by a Black person, please). Straight or queer, I don't care. Just heavy on the romance. Realistic contemporary preferred but that part's not a dealbreaker. #mswl
I'm not so into sitcom type television but I loved Schitt's Creek & Gilmore Girls, both of which are character driven small towns filled with quirky people, a strong set-up/hook, & all very... nice. The world is on fire around us. I want that "nice" vibe in a MG or YA book. #mswl
