romantasy where the Viera-esque witch falls for the wayward spirit she's trying to save... yes... #mswl

as an #mswl specifically, I'd love a Viera-esque witch protagonist who can commune with the spirit realm and has a connection with a spirit that could help or destroy the world.

it's very Korra-esque but without the manipulation of setting a great evil spirit free. more like therapy adventures?

later im gonna do a lil #mswl of league champions whose stories and lore would make really cool books! excluding the arcane babies bc there is no point in rehashing greatness

okay first up is AURORA! a dimension hopping witch who can shift between the physical and spiritual realms. during her research and travels, she happened upon a wayward demigod who became twisted and lost to time.

I will open again to queries on the 7th. I think I want to see more witches in my inbox. I always wanted a coven. THE SECRET CIRCLE and THE CRAFT made me think I would just find one in high school, and I was let down. #mswl

Ultimately, for my list, I like to think of it as a balance between dark and twisty, and warm and cozy.

If the vibes are dark academia, witchy, creepy forests, poisonous plants, cottagecore, or anything gothic (whether it’s horror or historical!) it’s right up my alley.

I also want to see cozier romantasy, where magic is woven into smaller aspects. Think kitchen and garden witches that brew intention into their hobbies.

#MSWL i'd love to see a modern riff on Bell, Book and Candle!

witches and magic are in

I love the relationships in the Holroyd family. You could do a book on Gill, one on brother Nicky, one on the eccentric and delightful aunt.

create a WHOLE world b/t humans+ magic

Send me your witches in space, your arcane scheming nun orders in space, your horrible political marriages in space, your most poisonous space court intrigues and most pointed critiques of space imperialism. (And to be fair, you can also send me all of the above: not in space.)

#MSWL I'd love an Adult/New Adult Harry Potter—witches, wizards, possibly academia (without the JK Rowling baggage of course).

Like THE MAGICIANS but even more accessible and with a strong romance.

My colleagues at @AlcovePress have been publishing incredible witchy fiction; I'd love to get some commercial witchy nonfiction on my list. Think THE WITCH'S BOOK OF SELF-CARE or something more niche and for a general audience. (2/)

I am *not* looking for epic fantasies, kingdoms/kings/queens/princes/princesses, etc. I would like fantasy/magical realism in the way of time travel, witches, past lives, reincarnations, etc.

Historical fiction: I prefer pre-20th century.

5. When it comes to Upper MG, I enjoy adventures with pirates, witches, ghosts, animals that can communicate, an underlying moral lesson learned by the main character, strong friendships, and stories of courage, overcoming obstacles, or shining in the face of adversity.

2. Fantasy involving ghosts, witches, etc. Vampires are ok but they need to be human-friendly like ADOW. (I *adore* ADOW!). Historical fantasy like ADDIE LARUE. With historical fiction, I prefer pre-20th century.
