#MSWL urban fantasy, contemporary fantasy, grounded fantasy--yes. I do love political/court intrigue but I am also hankering for some fantasy about everyday folks! Trades people, bar keeps, swamp witches, mercenaries, thieves, guilds members.

YA: fantasy/speculative with easy entry/accessible worldbuilding, or contemporary settings with magical elements like monsters or witchcraft. Either propulsive like a VE Schwab or cozy like the Spellshop or Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. Open to crossover but has to have that teen voice.

romantasy where the Viera-esque witch falls for the wayward spirit she's trying to save... yes... #mswl

as an #mswl specifically, I'd love a Viera-esque witch protagonist who can commune with the spirit realm and has a connection with a spirit that could help or destroy the world.

it's very Korra-esque but without the manipulation of setting a great evil spirit free. more like therapy adventures?

okay first up is AURORA! a dimension hopping witch who can shift between the physical and spiritual realms. during her research and travels, she happened upon a wayward demigod who became twisted and lost to time.

I will open again to queries on the 7th. I think I want to see more witches in my inbox. I always wanted a coven. THE SECRET CIRCLE and THE CRAFT made me think I would just find one in high school, and I was let down. #mswl

Ultimately, for my list, I like to think of it as a balance between dark and twisty, and warm and cozy.

If the vibes are dark academia, witchy, creepy forests, poisonous plants, cottagecore, or anything gothic (whether it’s horror or historical!) it’s right up my alley.

I also want to see cozier romantasy, where magic is woven into smaller aspects. Think kitchen and garden witches that brew intention into their hobbies.
