As you can see from the above image, there's some changes in my MSWL. My amazing clients have mostly filled my kidlit roster, but I am starving for some adult! Especially thriller, speculative, and sci-fi. If you've got a weird little book, I want to see it! #MSWL (2/6)

For contemporary stories, I am looking for confident high-concept speculative novels à la Ann Liang. I am very selective in the YA realistic space, and I’m looking for super commercial, funny, and well-plotted.

Speaking of which, a specific ask I have is more speculative heist novels. I am dying to see more books that have the delightful sleight of hand of Leigh Bardugo or Scott Lynch or Margaret Owen. Not assassins. Con artists, doing con artist things!

– just earnest love and maybe a beautiful setting as a backdrop. Second is sharp, complicated upmarket, with bonus points for a speculative twist. (Nightbitch was my second favourite TIFF watch!). I also love anything that revolves around art and ambition in some form #mswl 🍂

For speculative fiction and magical realism, I love stories that deal with time in an interesting way (OONA OUT OF ORDER) but I also love Isabel Allende’s stories.

I would love to see work from Indigenous creatives especially in contemporary and speculative projects. Contemporary GNs. Mysteries and thrillers. And overall works that explore growing up whether that be its struggles or not.

I’m excited to see work from creatives who have a love for children’s books and have built a portfolio that focuses on children’s lit and the diversity of our kids. I’m also excited for contemporary and speculative GNs (pls no adult GNs)

I represent MG, young adult, & adult speculative fiction (including science fiction, fantasy, horror, & cross-genre books). In all age groups, my taste gravitates toward speculative fiction with subtle romance & lush prose. Horror, mystery, & romance elements are my soft spot.
