Paranormal

I don't know if paranormal is going to be the Next Thing in YA, but I DO know that if you've got a fresh take on it, agents, I'd love to take a look. #MSWL

Guess I should tag this thread w/ #MSWL & #PNR & #F & #Vampires #Adult #A (no YA or MG, not my rep'ing jam. Props to my fellow agents who rep those age ranges, but not my expertise.) Also if you sub me w/a project like this feel free to reply to this thread to give me a heads-up.

Another item on my wishlist: anything nonfiction involving the paranormal & supernatural (fyi one of my longtime favorite shows is ghost adventures!) #mswl

For Forge, I'm interested in road-not-taken novels--books which look at how someone's life would have played out if they'd made different choices. usually a paranormal element of some kind gets us there--parallel universe, "magical head injury," time loops....

Creepy supernatural horror/paranormal fiction with a female audience a la THE RETREAT. Shirley Jackson-esque horror where the humans are the monsters. #MSWL

I am INTO the possibility of paranormal romance making a comeback. Would love (LOVE) a slow burn romance in this genre. Make it hurt! (Metaphorically.) #MSWL

Peter Knapp @petejknapp · Sep 24

#mswl - I would love a fresh take on YA paranormal: vampires or werewolves like we've never seen them before, or a sprawling ghost story. Something that feels both grounded and also epic in terms of it scope and stakes.

YA paranormal:
I like brooding too-hot-for-their-own-good YA heroes in paranormal and I'm not apologizing
if you can make this m/m I would die for you

Fantasy, but make it fresh: unique settings, unusual formats, underrepresented mythology, magical realism, paranormal (yes, paranormal!). I've seen a lot of queries comping to GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE and MY LADY JANE. Keep 'em coming! #MSWL

Mackenzie Walton @mackenziewalton · Sep 24

I'm super in the mood for more cozy mysteries, especially those with paranormal or historical elements, and/or queer protagonists. #MSWL

Hannah VanVels @hannahvanvels · Sep 24

Paranormal, please! Friends, I blew through the TWILIGHT books SO quickly when they came out. And I think that vampires are making a comeback, and this is a hill I will die on. #YA #MSWL

I am heavily looking for MG and YA thrillers and paranormal horrors for the fall/Halloween season...and probably beyond that too. WHERE ARE ALL THE GHOSTS, DEMONS, MONSTERS, and humans who act like they're one of the above? #MSWL

Stephanie Stein @stephlystein · Sep 24

YA fantasy is evergreen, but what I want to see is where the genre is going next. A more contemporary direction, a new take on paranormal, twists and turns on some heavy-hitting elements like dragons, gods, monsters, the nature of story? Bring it to me!! #MSWL

Jim McCarthy @JimMcCarthy528 · Sep 24

Oh, and if you're bringing back paranormal? Call me. #MSWL (Please don't literally call me--this is what email is for)

*screams from rooftop*

Because I don’t have enough: I rep ADULT ROMANCE, HISTORICAL, SCI-FI, FANTASY. I rep MG CONTEMPORARY, HISTORICAL, SCI-FI, FANTASY. In addition to the YA Fantasy I have, I also rep YA CONTEMPORARY, SCI-FI, HISTORICAL, THRILLER/PARANORMAL! #MSWL please.

Jessica Reino @JNRlitauthor · Aug 7

In #YA I’m looking for #horror, contemporary #romance, #sff with strong world-building and action to drive the story, magical realism, and paranormal

#MSWL -- I'm still on the hunt for middle grade, and would particularly love a fun middle grade series with action, adventure, and perhaps some magic or a dash (or heaping cupful) of the paranormal!

Continuing to put this out in the universe: my hope is to find a big MG series in the next few months: MG fantasy, adventure, paranormal, scifi, etc...something exciting & brimful of imagination and heart, with characters who are at once brave and vulnerable. #MSWL
