For a long time now I've been looking for a contemporary romance in which an only child/lonely person is welcomed into a huge, sprawling, loving family. Think While You Were Sleeping. (We're looking now for romances for 2020's holiday season, hint hint.) #MSWL

One regret as an editor is that I never had my "kid and their dog" story. It doesn't have to be a dog... but the sensibility of an animal teaching a MG character to better understand Big Truths in a bring-your-tissues kind of read is so satisfying! #MSWL

In terms of character types, if I had to pic a favourite it would be, by a mile, the grumpy hero, especially one who's paired with a softer/more extroverted counterpart. This is my enemies-to-lovers catnip. #MSWL

-enemies to lovers

-any and all types of bisexual panic
-FWB

Also, for the love of everything that’s holy, do not send me interracial friendship/romance narratives that overcome racism. That shit is played out and wack. Stories with characters and worlds navigating racism, homophobia, etc yes. The Help type shit? NO. Anti #mswl

On the contemporary fiction, if it feels like Jason Reynolds could have wrote it, I'd love to see it. Realistic stories that don't shy away from hard topics. With characters we all can love.#MSWL
