I’d also love to see more mysteries/adventures that involve puzzles/riddles/games. I’ve seen National Treasure and Jumani too many times, and love that sort of propulsive plot device. #MSWL

Right now, the largest % of queries I receive are for the fantasy genre. Which is great, I love fantasy, but I also want my list to be balanced. So I would *really* love to see more queries in other genres: romcom, horror, mystery, historical, magical realism, graphic novel, etc. #MSWL

- MG mysteries! Friends solving puzzles together!

- MG fantasy with immersive magic and problem solving like Spirited Away

- MG contemporary stories about building community (sports teams, clubs, craft circles, neighborhood gardens, etc!)

- YA mysteries that feel like Truly Devious or One of Us is Lying

- YA psychological thrillers like We Were Liars

- YA horror that is gently spooky and also very dark YA horror

Though I've been dipping my toes into younger children's books lately, the only children's genre I'm actively seeking out is YA. I love a funny contemporary YA novel, a twisty mystery, or a super dark horror novel. Basically, I'm looking for the same genres in adult and YA. #MSWL

7/ BOOK-CLUB: Found family, complex female relationships, and stories of reinvention. A strong hook, rich settings, and high stakes. A tight timeframe with elements of mystery or romance. Give me an epic love story between best friends, a charater-driven mystery. Celeste Ng, Brit Bennett, Liz Moore.

I also like commercial mysteries and women's fiction if they have a super funny voice. #MSWL

Mostly, I'm looking for upmarket and literary fiction in a lot of categories, including mysteries, speculative, historical and horror. If you blend some of these genres together--amazing! I also like upmarket and literary fiction that doesn't fall into a genre category. #MSWL
