I'm open to submissions! But hurry! Just until 20 Dec, and I'm looking for:

- Adult space: near-future, light scifi that feel like they're set 10 minutes into the future, where there's just one or two elements that are otherworldly. Char-driven & strong pacing a must. No hard SciFi

- Adult space: Horror that is sometimes beautiful with a setting that can feel like a character. No splatterpunk. Deeper psychological themes a plus. Strong pacing & character driven a must.

- Adult space: Contemp light fantasy & magic systems that can be mistaken for just things out of the ordinary happening to happen. Grounded in the real world a must. Strong pacing & char driven only please.

In all of these, deeply emotional/surprisingly beautiful is a plus.

I'm looking for some very *specific* fantasy/speculative/mystery to fill my *adult* list so I thought I'd share a visual #MSWL

If you have anything that fits, I'd love to see it.

I’m still waiting on the big announcement, but I’m so excited to share that I’ve joined the incredible team @HowlandLit where I’ll be building my list in picture books, MG, and adult. Check out my #MSWL and find me on Query Manager

Across the board give me:
+ more Austen and Shakespeare retellings (I’m a simple girl)
+ more court intrigue and clever protagonists, from Marie Rutkoski to Natasha Ngan to Arkady Martine I love them in all forms
+ more soft magic (ie no rules)
+ more fantasy mysteries

For adult fiction in general, give me more books that blend genre. All stories are mysteries, and I love a book that leans into its mystery element even if it’s not actively a mystery novel. I also love fabulist or surrealist stories, broadly.

How about a new mystery series like Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators, The Last Starfighter movie (give me space adventures where there's tons at stake; video games become real adventures),etc.
