There are all kinds of Latinos in the real world, and there should be kinds of Latinos in sf. All of us should be represented, and faithfully so. ā Isabel Schechter #FantasticLatinas #NeverthelessShePersisted #WomensHistoryMonth#MSWL: MG SFF, contemporary realism, and historical fiction featuring Latinx kids from Central and South America and/or American kids whose heritage is from those areas. It's a big gap in children's lit and my list specifically.

Obviously interracial relationships don't end racism but tbh I would really love more MG/YA with interracial friendships & romances that don't involve white pplMore of my friends growing up were POC than not even though (or possibly because?) I lived in very white areas
Agreed 1000%. @MekishaTelfer and I were talking about this. #mswl forever

Today seems like a good day to ask agent friends for a mg or ya novel that makes me feel as empowered as the first half of @naomialderman's THE POWER. Related: everyone needs to read #thePower. #MSWL

Seeing several writers talking about their fear that their queer girl books wonāt sell and how thatās stopping them. Please write these stories, find agents, etc. who will champion them. I certainly want to see them and I know SO MANY other editors who do as well. Please ššš¾I've been standing on this soapbox for years. Send me your queer girl stories. Especially middle grade. Make me cry like the first time I saw FUN HOME and heard "Ring of Keys." These stories deserve to be heard! #MSWL
