"I am on the hunt for nonfiction in MG. Show me glimpses of history that haven't been taught to younger students before, collections of pieces, anthologies."
I'm looking for ALL genres across ALL age groups, though nonfiction isn't my thing. I'm extra hungry for MG, YA, & picture books! Let's go kidlit! I'm really honored whenever anyone queries me, so I appreciate you letting me consider your stories you've worked so hard on. #MSWL
Horror is probably my all-time favorite genre. I love anything and everything spooky, especially for MG audiences. With Halloween right around the corner, I'd love to see my inbox filled with scary stories.👻If you have a horror with a video game theme, GIMME. #MSWL
Fall 2023 #MSWL
YA thrillers or rom-coms with a fresh twist
MG magical realism or high concept action/adventure
Illustrators or author/illustrators
Select Adult manuscripts in upmarket fiction and contemporary romance
Awkward/ridiculous/LOL in any genre
#MSWL middle grade projects by Black authors that center Black kids/teens that spin (ie make new & unique) old school & current favs like Babysitters Club, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Harry Potter, Matilda, Peter Pan, a modern Narnia, Treasure Island + more.
Reminder that these aren't the limit of my wish list items. I'm open to fiction in a lot of genres and age groups, from MG to YA to adult. Please see the full #MSWL here:
#MSWL Still looking for an MG Romance Writer exploring 1st love & crushes like Natalie Blitt Carols & Crushes for MIDDLE GRADE to YA girls, 12-15yos. Yes I want something that straddles that weird line. Want them to read like Hallmark movies for kids and could go series.
#MSWL Fiction, across age groups, that explores the afterlife, but NOT set on Earth with ghosts. Think "waypoint" locations. I loved the movie "Defending Your Life," so a riff on that would be cool. But open to more settings, like an MG/YA kid ends up in the underworld.
I am now a member of #SCBWI , I am eager to see some picture books from author/illustrators and contemporary MG. #AmQuerying #AmAgenting #KidLit #WritingCommunity - I'll soon update my #MSWL on all my pages.
GN: absurd, funny MG; fantasy/spec like This Was Our Pact; YA like The Prince and the Dressmaker, Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up..., Genderqueer, Go with the Flow, The Magic Fish, beautiful coming-of-age like This One Summer that lingers w/you but make it all gay gay gay. 5/6
MG: character-driven fantasy/speculative/spooky; gorgeous verse novels; beautifully written coming-of-gender/gay stories w/ young people just beginning to come into their identity or discovering first love and crushes. Think Chiron in Moonlight when he's still a kid/preteen. 3/6
With #queerpit approaching, I thought I'd write up a super specific super gay #MSWL . I acquire for picture books, MG, YA, graphic novels, & nonfiction for Atheneum, and I'm looking for queer esp intersectional (BIPOC, neurodivergent, disabled) and trans/NB/genderqueer voices. 1/6
With so many pitch events fast approaching, I thought it was about time for an #MSWL refresh. I rep everything from picture books to adult fiction, but am looking to fill some particular gaps:

Kristie Choi @minjipattersonDuring my time off, I finished drawing a piece I've been working on for a few years now. I wanted to experience a bit of the process my graphic novelists go through (inking, coloring, etc). Conclusion: I like drawing, but I much prefer *editing* comics to making them! #MSWL below https://twitter.com/minjipatterson/status/1683962446590144515/photo/1
GN #MSWL : If any creators/agents have a project w/a similar vibe as this, I'd love to see it! I'm also on the lookout for coming-of-gender stories; queer romance; contemporary like Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up.., This One Summer, Go with the Flow; absurdly funny MG/early readers
"Seeking middle grade animal stories like PAX by Sara Pennypacker, SILVERWING by Kenneth Oppel, BUNNICULA by Deborah and James Howe, and SANTA PAWS by Nicholas Edwards."
