Shaun 🏳️🌈 Preorder Brave Face @ShaunieDarkoQueer books can be light and funny and still be important. Queer books don't have to focus on queer pain to matter.
These are the books I love across MG (especially!) and also YA. #MSWL
4. MG and YA books dealing with relevant age group issues. Think Sarah Dessen mixed with a Nicholas Sparks and Jenny Han. Teen pregnancy? First dates? Drinking problems or awkward summer kisses? Yes, I want them all.
3. Ranch / equestrian stories, stories featuring horses, anything with ponies as prominent characters. Cowboy romances to MG riding camp books and everything fictional in between. If you can throw in a barn cat, that’s a bonus!
2. Mermaids! I love mermaid stories and am still seeking one I fall in love with. A romance would be nice, but a YA/MG book featuring mermaids as main characters would also be appreciated. Adult mermaids also accepted!
Nicole Bea (Bezanson) @nicbeawritesI’ve had a few ppl ask for an updated #MSWL since my pinned one is a little old. I thought instead of a graphic, I’d make a thread of the top 8 story types I’d love to find in my inbox. These aren’t the only things I’m looking for but simply ideas of what I’m seeking. #amquerying
1. YA/MG stories dealing with death - especially think of those with sort of a paranormal twist. I’d love to see a take on Love Letters to the Dead mixed with your own imagination. Ghosts are welcomed!
As a huge astronomy buff myself, and in lieu of the first image of a black hole being released, I would love to get some more #YA and #MG submissions with characters who have a passion for fields in STEM. THE LAST TIME WE SAY GOODBYE is a perfect example of this #MSWL #amagenting
jem zero @jem_zero@LindaEpstein Clarification question: Are you exclusively considering #OwnVoices Jewish characters? My contemporary fantasy WIP has a disabled/queer main who is Jewish. I am physically disabled & queer like the character, but while I have Jewish family, I am not personally Jewish.
I'm currently open to middle grade and YA submissions. If you think your manuscript fits what I'm looking for, send it. You can go to #MSWL or their website, to see what I'm interested in. I'm not exclusively looking for anything.
Looking at sales reports this morning and yo. The appetite for funny illustrated middle grade is HIGH and not stopping. Capt Underpants: 1997; Dork Diaries: 2001; Wimpy Kid: 2007. We're just about due for another breakout series. If you're writing it send it to me. #MSWL
Fantasy was my first love as a reader, so I'm always seeking that in MG & YA, too! On the MG side, I'd love to find "modern-feeling classics" that evoke the spirit of Ella Enchanted, or humorous, wry voices in the Dealing with Dragons vein. #MSWL
Hey agents! I'm raring to acquire lots of new and exciting projects at the moment (PB through YA), so I'm going to post my latest #MSWL today.(authors, as a heads up, I don't accepted unsolicited subs at this time!)
I have just realized that one of my absolute favorite things in middle grade is suspicious, secret architecture in weird old houses. Secret passage? Yes, please. Hidden staircase? Thank you, ma’am. Mysterious hallway to nothing? I’ll take two. So, you know, #MSWL for that.
