My taste for PB runs from the quirky, imaginative, & funny like Stalactite & Stalagmite by Drew Beckmeyer to the gorgeously lyrical, emotional, and joyful like Where They Gather by Teresa Rodrigues, illus by Jamiel Law. The common thread? 1/2

-Short middle grade (50k or under) that lends itself well to illustration
-Author/illustrators
-Heartfelt and funny stories

Watching The Boroughs and would love something in this vein! Older protagonists who aren’t believed, funny banter, SciFi/horror #MSWL

Nonfiction:
Funny, authentic, and brutally honest stories, like anything by Jenny Lawson
Unique and niche topics, coffee table books

If my username didn't tip you off, it's definitely a bonus if your kidlit project is funny! I love comedies, parodies, satires, and witty adventure stories. I prefer hopeful and fun stories, so if your book makes me cry it probably also needs to make me laugh. #MSWL

Also anything that gives me the feeling of Bartimaeus by Jonathan Stroud. A genuinely funny, sarcastic MC, a fleshed-out world (either based in ours or not), and lovable character dynamics. #MSWL

I am particularly on the hunt for horror-comedy, even something a bit campy (Patricia Wants to Cuddle, Bless Your Heart). Same goes for humor in mystery/psychological thrillers (Dial A for Auntie, Finlay Donovan, etc). Would be very open to a mash-up of a funny horror amateur-sleuth too #MSWL

I love hilarious writing, whether it's a fresh rom-com or cozy mystery. Bring on the funny! #MSWL

I just watched BOTTOMS and, unfortunately, it's going to be my personality for a few months. I'd love a YA with that level of funny, young voice and tropes taken to absurdist extremes.
