For YA, same kind of deal. Strong voice. Strong concept/plot. Escapism, fantasy, sci-fi, speculative, magical realism—all awesome. Not crazy about depressing, issue-heavy books. No horror/thriller for me. #mswl #ya

#MSWL I would love a political fantasy or SF novel that pays as much attention to the symbolic meaning of clothing, gestures, and etiquette as the Queen of England does her brooches, and the plot hinges on this. The Goblin Emperor meets Ancillary Sword, I suppose?

If somebody wanted to write an Utena-style pseudo-contemporary diverse fantasy with sword-fighting, butch and femme queer girls, and colorful, floral imagery, and then have their agent sub it to me, I wouldn't be upset. I'm just sayin'. #MSWL

Looking for fantasy and science fiction that takes its influences, in terms both of structuring plot and characterizing action, from anime instead of from Western SFF. #mswl

I also want an Adult Fantasy reminiscent of THE CITY OF BRASS--smart, beautiful writing with a great plot that *moves*. #mswl

I'm also looking for BIG WORLDS in SFF. Something commercial and swashbuckling and fun as hell. I want a ROMP. #mswl

I'm also looking for upmarket YA Fantasy. I'm a sucker for thoughtful and elegant prose, and deep (not wide) worldbuilding that feels effortless despite it's intricacies. Contemp fantasy, second world fantasy, whatever--it's all great, as long as it sweeps me away. #mswl

I would love to see more Middle Grade in general, but I am particularly excited about contemporary fantasy (fantasy set in our world) and stories inspired by non-western cultures. #mswl
