Ways fantasy can be dynamic without relying on Tolkien-inspired landscapes, creatures, or Chosen One tropes:- Add a second power to the world that isn't humans. Be creative with this: perhaps the king must confer with the birds or frogs before charging to war.
Because I suck at organizing tweet threads on mobile: here's an expansion of my #MSWL for fantasy (adult, but I'll consider YA too) #amwriting #amquerying #querytip
I'm not trashing established tropes in fantasy.
I'm saying: Do not feel bound by them.
Fantasy is limitless.

As always: this long thread is just my opinion. But I hope this thread further fleshed out why I want concepts of fantasy expanded for my #MSWL - FANTASY IS LIMITLESS. If you're #amwriting fantasy or at #querytip stage, this thread is what I would love to see. #askagent

If #Oceans8 has left you seeking your next big score, we offer up these 12 irresistible fantasy heist novels, featuring some of the genre's most lovable do-badders. bit.ly/2LBG9DF pic.twitter.com/1RcfIIvKB1I love this list, but most of these titles are missing a key feature of Ocean's 8: female leads. Please send me all your women-led fantasy heists books!! #mswl

#MSWL adult fantasy (epic/high) in world inspired by less-seen-in-SFF cultures. No vamps, weres, witch/wiz, god/Angel, fae/elf, elemental/spellcasting etc tropes - instead show me NEW magic, NEW creatures, or wild twisty fantasy world/political structures.

Let their magic be small but let them find a way to make it ignite in their favor. #mswl
