Happy #MSWL day! You can see my wishlist here: manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/sara… I'm looking for all MG and YA fiction (except graphic novels), adult romance, and adult anything-under-speculative-umbrella except hardcore horror #mg #ya #sff

As it's #MSWL Day, I'm posting my link:

Some of my interests: hilarious rom-coms, high-concept SFF w/ delicious world-building & commercial pacing, book club fiction with inter-generational fams, ❤️ female journey & feminist perspective

In middle grade, I’m always hungry for action, adventure, magic, and humor. It can be fantasy or contemporary, or a little bit of both. Give me your fresh takes on magical school settings or just fun friendship stories filled with hijinks. #MSWL

As for children’s, I’m always open to YA in almost all genres, especially fantasy, contemporary, and thriller. I just want strong concepts and smart MCs with engaging voices that pull me along for the ride and make me want to root for them the entire way. #MSWL

I’m expanding into repping more adult projects in genre fiction. I want to see more cozy fantasy, romantic or not, with low stakes, warmth, humor and whimsy. Basically a hug in book form. #MSWL

My full #mswl can be found on the agency website but here’s what I’m especially looking for in 2023:

—Adult + YA RomCom that are FUNNY AF *or/and* Adult Romance w a magic/spec twist
—Suspense/Thrillers (we need more queer and POC rep in this category!)
—MG Fantasy! All kinds!

Happy #MSWL day! I represent authors in the Adult, YA, and crossover SFF space. I am always looking for sharp writing, punchy characters, and big emotions. ☺️ Query me!

I'm closed to queries for the next couple months for dedicated reading time, but in honor of #MSWL Day I redid my MSWL! I am looking for all types of romance, SFF (plus horror), mysteries, thrillers, YA, and some small subsets of literary and commercial fiction!

As for me, I'm always looking for genre-blending literary fiction, accessible sci-fi and fantasy, diverse and inclusive kid-lit, and moving non-fiction.

Some recent examples from my list? Here are some by @AlisonStine @mikechenwriter @mk_england and @JamesTateHill.

I'd love to see more YA fantasy, but it really, really, really has to be unique so it'll stand out. Not an easy feat. I know! Send me more YA thrillers too!!! #MSWL #WritingCommunity #amquerying #amagenting

I'm only looking for sci-fi in the adult space and prefer distant-future space-set stories. I love SF that is kind-of-sort-of-fantasy, like Yoon Ha Lee & Tamsyn Muir.

In MG I'm looking for fantasy only! While I love charming, pacey adventure stories, I'd love something steeped in fairytale. I grew up reading a lot of Cornelia Funke & would love something with that tone.

In contemp fantasy I am looking for hooky, fresh premises like IF YOU COULD SEE THE SUN & LEGENDBORN in YA, and on the adult side, speculative thrillers like NINTH HOUSE, BLACK WATER SISTER, and MAGIC FOR LIARS.

For YA fantasy, all of the above applies & I am super open to intricate worldbuilding. I love stories with strategists & characters and narratives that fool the reader: STRIKE THE ZITHER & LITTLE THIEVES are recent faves in this vein. Give me mystery too a la YEAR OF THE REAPER!

I am always into historical fantasy or fantasy that's inspired by a historical setting/context, esp non-Western; recent faves in this space are SHE WHO BECAME THE SUN & THE UNBROKEN. I love historical fantasy w/ Western settings that center marginalized voices eg Zen Cho's books

In high fantasy, my taste is super broad, but right now I'm esp looking for court intrigue, sprawling worlds, stories centering family dynamics, and of course stories w/ diverse voices. Send me South Asian inspired fantasy & novels starring wlw please!

1. I will open for a month only. (By doing it in controlled bursts I can make sure it doesn't overwhelm me).

2. Genres. I will be only opening to a few genres:

Action & Adventure (adult)

Thriller/ mystery: Adult and YA.

Fantasy YA.

Fantasy Romance Adult and YA.

SPECULATIVE—I’d love to find adult fiction with light touches of magic such as magical realism, cozy fantasy, or magic-tinged rom coms. THE INHERITANCE OF ORQUÍDEA DIVINA, THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES, THE EX HEX, and EMILY WILDE’S ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF FAERIES. #MSWL

Finally got around to watching Poker Face (ep1) with @BrendonAlekseii and all it's done is emphasize how much I would love some SFF that feels like this, or a Knives Out movie.

#MSWL

I’m going to post a more detailed #MSWL thread soon, but in the meantime—here’s a big picture overview of what I’m looking for this year! ✨
