Dystopian • overreacting govts, secret societies, collapse, revolution, apocalyptic (esp w/ religious themes)
Romance • any of the above, historical, contemporary, enemies to lovers, childhood sweethearts, love triangles, no explicit content, would love halal
Elana Roth Parker @ElanaRothTruth: I'm struggling with dystopian fiction in my submissions. The kids these days seem to want it. But I feel like my entire early agenting career was dystopian. (I sold...quite a few.) I'm not against it, but I'm also not sure what new avenues would be interesting to me.
Honestly the more I think about it, the more I'd like a genre within genre. Like a rom-com set in a dystopian future (🤯). Or a murder mystery. That would be more interesting to me than "teen takes down oppressive futuristic system."
#MSWL 🧵 before I open to queries on Friday!
I will be open to most genres of YA and Adult including but not limited to contemporary, romance, thriller, speculative, dystopian, issue-driven, fantasy, eco-fiction, sci-fi. Here's some things I'll be keeping my eye out for. (1/8)

Please note in your #query that you heard about our #callforsubs on Twitter. Both agented and unagented submissions welcome.
Here we go:
🌹Romantic Suspense. We are in need of some love alongside that mystery and intrigue.
🌹YA Fiction, specifically dystopian
Gianna Lakenauth @GLakenauthThis is me begging for a YA dystopian that keeps me up for an entire week the way it did my sophomore year of college when I binged read the Hunger Games #mswl
it has finally happened! i have a #mswl !
take a peek and see if i'm a good candidate for your submission 🐱👀🤠❣️
Open to near-future dystopian (but not post-apocalyptic) with social critique, magic, or both (BLOOD LIKE MAGIC by Liselle Sambury, INTERNMENT by Samira Ahmed.).
Sparingly open to higher fantasy if very detailed, atmospheric, accessible (A FORGERY OF ROSES by Jessica S. Olson).
cath ☀️ @lagunabayfablesI want to see more dystopian-esque books tackling the patriarchy and oppressive religious institutions, but through the lens of colonialism. Those institutions subjugated countless people and destroyed so much of our history and culture and it would be nice to see it called out.
#mswl please I’d love to see more of this
I’m thrilled to announce I’m a new Literary Associate at Olswanger Literary! I’ll open to submissions on September 1, accepting adult fiction and nonfiction.
If you think we might be a match (my tastes are wide & varied) please query me in September!
Get your twitter queries ready, it’s #mswl time! I’m looking for #WomensFiction, #bookclublit, #nonfiction of all kinds and breakout #thrillers, #drama, unique #dystopian or future settings. Pitch me here for a quick look. #writersoftwitter #litagent #submissions
I'm still very much looking for more dystopian YA projects, especially given the current state of the world. Please send through the link below if you have this! 🙏 #MSWL
Literally can't help myself, I love dystopian so much. Thinking about all the reservoirs drying up & climate change, I'm interested to see dystopias about parched worlds, little water. I've seen and passed on some before. Any of those that have been revised may query again. #MSWL
Rom-coms, paranormal romance, dystopian romance, science fiction/fantasy/speculative, & thriller/suspense. I would love to see: diversity, LGBTQ+, environmental issues/climate change, school settings, and mental health.
