THIS 👏🏻 BOOK 👏🏻 SPARKS 👏🏻 JOY! 👏🏻Annie’s unapologetic fury at a world that’s all too happy to sacrifice messy girls struck such a chord in me, and her huge 🖕🏻 to the whole damn system is genuinely healing to read.
The world is not ready for @codiecrowley’s talent! pic.twitter.com/vx3QHHHLWf
Speculative fiction that explores the horror of being oppressed and allows marginalized people to reclaim power by any means necessary and without apology is a perennial #mswl item for me, and @lmpnk and @codiecrowley were really like “we got u”

I recently learned that Scrub Daddies are a choice product for crime scene cleaners. I also recently learned there are crime scene cleaning influencers. This current era of social media is fascinating because everything is content™️.Not that I work on graphic novels or crime fiction much, BUT.... someone clearly needs to write a novel about a crime scene cleaner who cracks cases and rises to influencer fame! #mswl

My birthday is next month!
Agents, here's what I want from my #MSWL. 🎁
Send me your MG novels, send me your YA novels. Here are some of my very favorite things 🧵:

Oh and of course anything and everything here:

Writing that's sharp and biting, or writing that's lyrically astounding. Is there a touch of magic? A heap? Yes, I want it.
And I want all of it to be BIPOC and/or queer.

Editor
I'd really love to laugh, like a book about a bunch of aunties the rest of the community thinks are well past their prime--and I want to see them as full, gossipy, pushy people; what do they want? (And we return to BANDIT QUEENS!)

Editor
I want a mystery that characters wish they hadn't solved. A mystery that isn't about the mystery, really, at all, but about the people--the kind of ending that feels inevitable, like putting these people in that room at once--well, nothing else could have happened.

Editor
give me Heathcliff, give me the lover that has so misunderstood what love is that they perform deeds that leave them bloody. Give me a love that has soured and make me yearn for it anyways. I want more hauntings, more ghost stories.
Give me Practical Magic, I'm begging you.

5. YA historical fiction about teens involved in labor activism movements (like a fictionalized eliseo medina in the delano grape strike)

Editor
4. books about the dynamics of friendship groups—I’d love something YA or MG with the feel of NOW & THEN, but more diverse (Celia Pérez’ STRANGE BIRDS does this really well, eg)
