In younger fiction, I’m looking for whimsy and fun, but also smart humor with twisted takes and thrilling mysteries. As always, I will sing the praises of The Owl House until the end of my days, but I also just love most animation out now and I would love to capture that in MG

No context needed

Everything we teach people not to do? Do it. Assassins. Heists. Trained thieves. Undercover guards. All of it.

Spies? Start em young. Better yet? Put it in a competition. There are trials? Give them to me. A game to break a curse? Yup. Heists set against a clock? Throw it at me.

Fae. I want all the fae. Fae with massive, expansive, lush worlds. Court intrigue. Royalty. Hot characters doing hot things while also using swords and knives. Fae with romance. Fated mates. Enemies to lovers. Killers sent into other lands. Fae.

I want MG/YA/Adult family dynasties with family members who would absolutely commit crimes “for the family” and need therapy but instead just like murder and luxury

There are songs on repeat for me that I would like to bottle up in a scene or if a book got a trailer:

“Vegas” by Doja Cat
“Brother” by Kodaline
“Survivor” Edda Hayes remix
“Power Over Me” by Dermot Kennedy

Remember when Alex, Michael, and Maria hooked up on Roswell, NM? The angst, but also the vulnerability and opening up to love? If you have that in book form, but gives them a happier ending, send it my way! #mswl

A nonfiction #MSWL from @jmcgowanbks:

"An adult nonfiction that dives into a fascinating niche or mystery of our natural world. I always find myself thinking of The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert & want to find something that's highly researched but fascinates readers."
