One regret as an editor is that I never had my "kid and their dog" story. It doesn't have to be a dog... but the sensibility of an animal teaching a MG character to better understand Big Truths in a bring-your-tissues kind of read is so satisfying! #MSWL

I'm recently open to middle grade, and I'm primarily looking for funny projects, along the lines of THE BAD GUYS, LIONS & LIARS #MSWL

I'd love to find more PB NF-- things like THE SEA BOOK or SEA BEAR. I like little known history and people, or climate/science geared topics. #MSWL

I gravitate towards humorous, sarcastic, clever books like Jory John. I love punny and clever, and ordinary things turned on their heads and made hilarious. Think THE GREAT INDOORS. #MSWL

My door will always be open to picture books, running the gamut.

Send me your great Southern voice in MG and YA! Specificity of setting with clear stakes and hook, please. I loved WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING, great Southern voice and a murder mystery/courtroom drama to boot! How to do this younger? #MSWL

i'm sure i'm forgetting at least a thousand other things i'd like to see, and i'm always up for being surprised with a project that was never on my wishlist radar. at the end of the day it's all about voice. a magic kind of chemistry you can't explain. so please: send away! #MSWL

Did I say I want graphic novels? I really want to see your graphic novel proposals, especially if you are an artist. I ❤️KISS NUMBER 8, MONSTRESS (any way to do this younger? that art-deco style is to die for!), ROLLER GIRL, SANITY & TALLULAH, and anything with cats... #MSWL

You know here's another thing: I really want #YA and #MG from the pov of underprivileged kids, especially in non-coastal states. #MSWL

there's always room for more MG and picture books on my list, too. contemporary, fantasy, somewhere in between. lots of humor, lots of heart. those MG years are weird, funny, sad, hard, beautiful, and i want to feel alllll of it. take me back. (for better or for worse) #MSWL

Other random elements I love: historical fiction, witches (historical and contemporary, but less on the humorous side), boarding schools, food, slow build romance, whimsy, retellings...#MSWL

I also love mysteries and thrillers that gravitate towards dark horror elements, like THE WHISPER MAN. One of my top reads so far this year. #MSWL
