In honor of reopening to queries, I thought I’d list a few things I’d love to see: a mystery series set on Hawaii, westerns (esp with some kind of twist), and speculative fiction set in the Pacific Northwest #MSWL

I'd love to see more contemporary mysteries with sympathetic protagonists, ordinary people with good humor who are pushed into dark situations. Think Rear Window or Tana French's The Witch Elm. #mswl

Any southern fantasy writers out there? Meaning authors who write narratives deeply rooted in southern tradition, folklore, etc. I'm looking for you.... #MSWL

So give me the heroes of the story, let them see and do and experience awful shit—but then don't let that trauma just slip away into nothing.

Let them grieve. Let them rage. Let them burn and grow and heal.

And let me see the steel sharpen in their eyes.

I want stories about surviving trauma. About healing and growing beyond it and thriving after trauma.

I want to see the rage, the grief, the shame, each and every ugly shard--but then watch them grow stronger because of it.

The thing that makes me immediately latch onto and empathize with almost any character?

Anger.

Not just a flash of it. I want the deep-seated rage that burns after trauma. The rage that fuses to your bones and becomes an integral piece of you.

Give me more anger.

#mswl - books that emphasize the bridge between science and the arts; I went through a phase years ago where I read a lot of books on the history of math; NF pbs that are written using a super engaging hook or concept

#mswl - amazing stories about what human, animal or plant bodies can do (e.g. more like on a cellular/biology level, not biographies); NF books about scientific discoveries made by LGBTQIA+, BIPOC or neurodiverse people; a how-to book for teens about divestment and eco-activism;

some other science-related #mswl's (ugh, forgive the grocer's apostrophe). Space, astronomy, astrophysics. A book about how going to the moon now would be different than it was when the US went in 1969 (technology changes, etc.) for kids or teens.
