Fun might mean: turning tropes on their heads (COUNTERFEIT), acute social commentary (WHITE IVY and SUN DAMAGE), sending us to mind-boggling locations (MIDNIGHT and THE DIVE), or a steady drip of dark humor (HOW TO KILL YOUR FAMILY). Hit me with whatever you've got in this space

In terms of crime and thriller, perhaps ironically, I want books in this space that feel fun! I'm slightly fatigued by the gloomier end of the spectrum within this genre...

On the contemporary side, I want a sharp, provocative story like LUSTER and a character study equal parts hilarious and heart-piercing, as in WRITERS AND LOVERS and STANDARD DEVIATION.

I'm also nostalgic for the epic love stories I read and watched on the screen growing up. Call me old-fashioned, but where are the 2023 equivalents of THE ENGLISH PATIENT, TITANIC, LOVE STORY, ATONEMENT? Make me cry, people!

I'm also craving literary suspense in the pre-internet era. Think: Christine Mangan, Emma Flint, Clare Fuller. Help me escape and keep me gripped!

20th century European glamour is always a draw, but I'd really, really love an historical novel set outside the periods and places we see over and over.

I'm still hungry for historical! On that front: I can't stop thinking about GREAT CIRCLE, which I waited a criminally long time to read. I'm desperate for an epic family novel told across timelines and generations.
