It's #MSWL day! I'll be tweeting today about what I'd love to see in my #query inbox, but to kick it off, here's my official page!

I'm also hoping to see more graphic memoirs and graphic nonfiction. Such a fantastic way to learn about people and things. #MSWL

When it comes to graphic novels (for all ages—MG, YA, or Adult), most of the submissions I receive are fantasy. I would love to work on more realistic stories. Maybe even some horror! #MSWL

More YA things you should send me: best friend stories! LGBTQ+ rom coms! eerie mysteries! #MSWL

For Young Adult, my biggest #MSWL is fun, lighthearted novels by POC and LGBTQ+ writers. I see so many submissions for issues-based stories—which we need, don't get me wrong—but I want to put a little more joy into the lives of teen readers who already deal with so much shit.

My #mswl hasn't changed - still wanting books about clowns & queerness related to trickster figures, still wanting all types of found families, still wanting MG horror & spoop, I would LOVE more picture book illustrators, & a comedic YA protag coping w ED (incidental, not plot).

Adult Rom-Coms. Something fun and funny would make me really ridiculously happy. #MSWL

Forever and always, more retellings of lesser known mythology, fairy tales, and classical lit. Especially if it blends with an unexpected genre. #MSWL

YA Horror where the thing to fear is more than just a dude with a machete. Something chilling and lurking, like It Follows or The Babadook. #MSWL

I’d love a big YA fantasy set in a dazzling world I can get lost in. #MSWL

MG stories about family, in all shapes and sizes! #MSWL

I love quiet magic, MG fantasy that showcases small wonders rather than earth-shaking feats. #MSWL

Send me all the creepy MG! Something eerie and spooky, but not too gory (more Coraline than It). Make me worry about the things that go bump in the night. #MSWL

Some things I will forever have a soft spot for:
-cinnamon roll protagonists who try SO HARD 😭
-quiet moments of heartbreak that sneak up on you
-found families
-fake dating
-strange, eerie magic
-beautiful, haunting writing

I'd love a survivalist horroresque novel or survivalist dystopian YA. Think Wilder Girls by Rory Power! Give me off the grid islands, plagues, a trip gone gone wrong, the end that begins as a whisper.

I am IN LOVE with most books that take place in some sort of fantasy arctic tundra. Don't ask me why. I really have no clue. But if your manuscript is atmospheric and takes place in a really harsh arctic environment, I want it! #MSWL

And to round out my Middle Grade #MSWL with some speculative items: chilling horror is always my jam, and I want to read your luscious, weird, wow-this-worldbuilding-is-fantastic fantasies.

My MG #MSWL is basically this: if Rick Riordan Presents would publish it, I want it. Epic fantasy adventures that I haven’t seen million times already. With humor and loads of imagination.
