Funny

This is the most obvious #MSWL ever, but...

I want books like To All The Boys I've Loved Before, in YA and Adult. This means:

--high concept
--romantic
--funny
--diverse!
--contemporary
--family B plots
--HEA

Let's do this!

The last thing I should be doing on my day off, with a full query inbox, is tweet out my #MSWL, but it's August and rules don't apply 😂 #thread

I'm still seeking a book that brings me into another culture/country/world I'm unfamiliar with. NEXT YEAR IN HAVANA & CRAZY RICH ASIANS both come to mind #MSWL Could be serious, could be romantic, could be funny.

Would do backflips for a smart, funny, dark historical fiction centered on a 1950s or ‘60s beauty pageant #MSWL

Would love to see a funny, meta take on paranormal, like the movie Lost Boys #MSWL

Hey #amquerying authors! Here's what the BookEnds agents are dying to see in their inboxes. #MSWL twitter.com/bookendslit/st…

I was late coming to the thread so I'll add mine in now. I'd like more books like Crazy Rich Asians. I'm in the mood for something funny and light. #diversebooks a plus or women's fiction. #amquerying #MSWL

I love how a funny book can operate in a kid's world. They're a pleasure to read - score one for reading. Plus, if I (the grown-up) get the joke, and the kid also gets the joke, that's a way of saying, hey, you're pretty smart, kid. Score many, many more for reading. #MSWL

I'm in awe of truly funny writing. It's harder than it seems, and I love seeing it work on the page. #MSWL

Though I'm known for my love of dark books, I also love light, funny YA and MG, including romcoms. #MSWL #WishlistWednesday

Rhonda Merwarth / Delilah Gray @RhondaMerwarth · 22 Jun 2018

A few ideas we have (but by no means limited to):
-A light, funny love triangle
-Second-change romance featuring divorced mom with tweens/teens
-Military characters, firefighters, maybe an inspiring male teacher? #MSWL

Bibi Lewis @Bibi_Lewis · 6 Jun 2018

I really want to see more rom-com's in my inbox! Smart, funny, with an emphasis on well developed characters. #mswl

Joanna MacKenzie @joannamackenzie · 5 Jun 2018

My summer #mswl: mothers with secret lives; Midwest stories with a strong sense of place; character driven mysteries and thrillers (maybe starring mothers with secret lives); fish out of water narratives, both serious and funny (maybe with something Polish).

Adult Contemporary/Romance Writers! I would like to sign a project that reads like Bridget Jones/Crazy Rich Asians/The Hating GAme--funny, fast paced, and clued in to social questions. #MSWL

Dr. Uwe Stender @UweStenderPhD · 23 May 2018

A #MSWL from me: I would really LOVE to receive some really smart, funny Contemporary YA submissions. Books that make you laugh AND think. Along the lines of, i.e.: "I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE," or "WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI," or "THE LAKE EFFECT."

Lauren Spieller @laurenspieller · 4 May 2018

I want more funny books in general. All ages, all genres. #mswl

I want a vampire book that reads like this show. Funny, sweet, and from the POV of the vampire, *not the victim*--or at least not the victim alone. Another great example is BLOOD SUCKING FIENDS: A LOVE STORY by Christopher Moore. #MSWL

ellen @ellencormier · 26 Apr 2018

Wow, agent friends. I'm really tweeting you a lot, huh? But this is the cutest things I've ever heard of and I need it to be a smart, funny, pignant, nuanced YA novel so... #sorrynotsorry #mswl

I’ve been getting a lot of dark YA lately—which I love!—but I’m also interested in sweet, funny MG that may or may not make me cry #MSWL
