Contemporary or historical romance with a hint (or more) of magic. #mswl

“Cute queer contemporary romances, like EVERYTHING LEADS TO YOU or SIMON VS THE HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA” @kurestinarmada #MSWL

Amanda Jain @wensday95 · Feb 23

I'd also really love to find a contemporary mystery where the setting is an equally important component of the story. Think Jane Harper's THE DRY. #mswl #amwriting #amquerying

Lisa Dunn @AuthorLisaDunn · Feb 21

I'm still on the hunt for #Christian/#Ispy #YA fantasy and contemporary. If you see your story on my #MSWL, I'd love to hear from you!…

Ali Herring @HerringAli · Feb 21

Would love commercial high concept #MG, written in a literary style, that explores some important emotional competency for the characters (death, loss, catastrophe, violence, race, differences/disability, social justice, growing up, etc) contemp, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. #MSWL

Beverly Twomey 🐝 @BevTwomey

@KiraWatsonESA Hello! What are your Top Three #MSWL at the moment? :) #askagent

Replying to @BevTwomey

1) 90's YA with a young woman trying to enter the metal scene
2) Emotionally hefty contemporary YA. (Think #GirlInPiece)
3) YA/MG/PB on weightlifting and powerlifting #MSWL #askagent

"A diverse, contemporary YA novel about strong guy friendships. Think Poe and Finn. <3" @ericsmithrocks #MSWL

Amanda Jain @wensday95 · Feb 16

In contemporary romance, I am much more likely to fall in love with a book that makes me laugh vs one that makes me cry. I'm not a huge fan of billionaires or motorcycle clubs, so those are probably best sent to other agents who love them.

Lydia Sharp @lydia_sharp · Feb 16

here is my current #mswl:
YA romance - all genres
single title romance - all genres (see yesterday's tweets for what "single title" means)
category/series romance - contemp or historical
womens fiction with romance
NA romance - contemp or sci-fi
LGBTQ romance in any of the above

Kira @KiraWatsonESA · Feb 14

I’m still looking for that contemporary #YA that shakes me up emotionally. Think #GirlInPieces or #TheWayIUsedToBe or #LoveLettersToTheDead. That kind is emotional heft. #mswl #amquerying #amwriting

"Contemporary #YA about a f/f or m/m couple. Something fun and sweet—not an issues-heavy coming out story.” @msmariavicente #MSWL

Andy (aka Michael) @cupcakeandy · Feb 13

#mswl YA contemporary that reads like Fast Car sounds.

Alex Slater @abuckslater · Feb 13

#Querying? Send me your contemporary #MG, especially if it plays with structure like Jack Cheng's See You in the Cosmos. Send me your historical fantasy #YA, especially if it has a multicultural cast like Heidi Heilig's The Girl From Everywhere. #MSWL

Michelle Witte @michellewitte · Feb 13

Watching this interview with Adam Rippon yesterday gave me chills. I would love a YA contemp realistic in the vein of what he describes in the first 30 seconds of how far he went to achieve his dream of becoming an Olympic skater while still a teen.… #MSWL

Michelle Witte @michellewitte · Feb 13

I would so love a YA like this, contemp or fantasy. Chloe Kim’s dad texted her before the Olympic halfpipe final that she was about to become a dragon.… #MSWL

Penny Moore @precociouspenny · Feb 12

I’d love to see a YA contemporary featuring body positivity in Asian culture. I know growing up it was the vicious cycle of constantly being told I needed to lose weight while mom and relatives always told me to eat more at mealtimes. Definitely a cultural thing. #mswl
