Elle Keck @ElleKeckI need Mexican and Mexican-American authors on my list!! Extra extra points for stories steeped in California Mexican culture because I miss it so much #MSWL
I'm not normally a "foodie" reader but I would read the crap out of an enemies to lovers romance about rival restaurant owners, one who serves CaliMex (THE BEST) and one who serves TexMex. As long as CaliMex wins, obviously #MSWL
back with a few more #mswl tweets - this time for adult fiction and romance - a thread!
reminder - I'm an EDITOR not an agent - I edit for Entangled Publishing and we do ~mostly~ romance novels with only one imprint as an exception - PLEASE READ THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All right, all right, one last one. I don't know exactly how you could execute this and make it a romance, but I am VERY into Succession right now so I'm going to throw "rich and extremely dysfunctional family with twisted but loving sibling dynamics" out there. #MSWL
I'm also often drawn to books with strong water elements. Moody lighthouse keepers! Sleepy coastal towns! Ship captains! Merpeople! If there's lots of fog and salt air, I'm likely to be intrigued. (This goes for both romance and mystery.) #MSWL
SPEAKING of tropes, have you heard about Carina Adores, our new contemporary romance trope-driven LGBTQ+ line? I would love to see your submissions. You can find more info here: carinapress.com/blog/carina-ad… #MSWL
Some of my favorite romance tropes include enemies to lovers, marriage/relationship of convenience, and forced proximity. If the characters are annoyed by how into each other they are, the book is probably for me! #MSWL
For a long time now I've been looking for a contemporary romance in which an only child/lonely person is welcomed into a huge, sprawling, loving family. Think While You Were Sleeping. (We're looking now for romances for 2020's holiday season, hint hint.) #MSWL
Natascha Morris @SoCalledYALife#MSWL I need a good romance. I love falling in love with people falling in love. It doesn't have to be gooey, it can be enemies to lovers, "Fake dating", etc. But I want romance.
Romance tropes I like (LGBTQ+)
-we're queer and no one in this book is homophobic!
-enemies to lovers
-o no there's only one bed
-I thought I liked my BFF's SO but maybe I just love my BFF?
-any and all types of bisexual panic
Before I forget! I love historical romance, historical fantasies, alternate historical fantasies etc etc in YA and Adult. I’d LOVE an f/f in a period story! Like duchess debauchery or some shit. With WOC!!! Bc racism is a recent phenomenon. #mswl
Other random elements I love: historical fiction, witches (historical and contemporary, but less on the humorous side), boarding schools, food, slow build romance, whimsy, retellings...#MSWL
