“I’d really love to get more YA horror in my inbox. Smart horror. I don’t want gore, I want a story that creeps me out, and asks questions I don’t want answers to.” @ericsmithrocks #MSWL ericsmithrocks.com/mswl

I'm largely a kids and YA agent, but I do also represent adult work - especially bold non-fiction with a clear hook and (often) socially progressive aspect - feminism; socialism; environmentalism; internationalism; mental health; prison reform - I'd love to see it.
Literary Agent
Would love more graphic novels and author-illustrators for all ages, too!
Literary Agent
I also love horror horror - YA, middle-grade, even commercial-literary adult fiction. Creepy, cinematic psychological horror with some kind of genre twist or social justice message would be an absolute dream.
Literary Agent
I'd also love some comedy-horror in middle-grade. I don't know what that looks like, but I do know I love ghosts and zombies.
Literary Agent
On the subject of middle-grade, I'm still not seeing enough comedy by women. I continue to wax about it, but @sharnajackson's HIGH RISE MYSTERY is the perfect example of a funny, clever adventure with all the life and representation that I'm looking for.
Literary Agent
I would so love for these stories to be funny, silly, celebratory - in all possible genres (but especially comedy or horror, FYI) and up and down the age-ranges, but especially middle-grade.

...trans characters; incidental working-class backdrops; all kinds of BAME stories...give me life in all it's beautiful variation! My inbox is still not showing me this, so at JULA we're cooking up ways of removing this barrier that still must exist for writers submitting to us.

While we're all locked up reading and writing / glued to social media, I thought I might do a thread about the kinds of submissions I'm looking for, because it worked pretty well last time...Always, always, #ownvoices stories from under-represented writers and characters – including neuroatypical protagonists; characters with visible and invisible disabilities; stories involving unpaid carers and young carers; the broadest definition of queer love / sex stories...

As @GraceKendallLit tweeted, Macmillan is on rotational WFH due to coronavirus. However, I'm full-time WFH for now because I'm in a high risk population. With that said, I'm safe and cozy at home and very excited to read all! the! submissions! So please send them my way. 💙As a caveat, at this time I'm only accepting agented manuscripts. Thank you! Can't wait to read!

This is weirdly specific (blame my subconscious) but I’d love to see a YA where the MC is dealing with the fallout of a parent’s very public arrest as a serial killer, and the true crime aficionados and podcasters who now hound their family. #MSWL

Love Inspired is excited about our expansion, and I wanted to share a few visuals I got recently that outline some of the details. Who's working on a submission for any of these programs? pic.twitter.com/Q4GNXH8pWYIt's a great time to be writing for Love Inspired! I have some wonderful LI authors on my list, and would love to add more. #MSWL

#MSWL. I always find some of my best projects during difficult times. Because I know any book that can take me out of the present and keep my attention is a winner. So please send on those projects. I need a great distraction from the news!

#MSWL. Please send me some light, fun reading! Romantic comedies & uplifting women's fiction. Historical fiction set in glamorous locales and a glamorized past like THE GIRL IN WHITE GLOVES or AND THEY CALLED IT CAMELOT.
