So first and foremost, across all age ranges and genres, I’m always looking for stories from diverse voices and underrepresented creators. #weneeddiversebooks now more than ever, especially ones full of adventure, magic, and love. #mswl

It has come to my attention that the JIMMY list has no books containing dragons. This must be remedied, so agents, please send me MG submissions with dragons in them! I had a huge thing for dragons as a kid and would love to see some unique takes on them now. #MSWL

I love NINTH HOUSE so much and want to see any titles that comp to it, in adult or YA, especially from diverse voices! #MSWL

Putting some #MSWL items out into the universe in the hopes they find their way to me in 2020! Agent friends, I’m actively acquiring PB, MG, and YA but I’m really looking to build my MG/YA lists this year. Below are some things I’d love to see right now. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

In short: I want to collaborate with clients who are ambitious storytellers with strong visions for their careers...who have something they want to say, and something they want to build. And I want to help them do it. Let's go, 2020! #mswl

I also love speculative, especially for MG & would love to find something for fans of the AMULET series or something like THE WITCH BOY. And a recent fav was FAKE BLOOD. #mswl

I’d love to find graphic novels in 2020, too. On the contemporary side, favs include ROLLER GIRL, BEST FRIENDS, AWKWARD. #mswl

I'd also love a serious MG fantasy series...something dark, dangerous, and with a large canvas and great world-building. #mswl

I'm also dying for more fun & high concept middle grade series, like THE SCHOOL FOR GOOD & EVIL, NEVERMOOR, ESCAPE FROM MR. LEMONCELLO'S LIBRARY, MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY, etc. And as in YA, in MG: monsters. #mswl

Also Rebecca Stead's upcoming THE LIST OF THINGS THAT WILL NOT CHANGE is a new favorite. I love its exploration of both regret (see above: a fav topic!) and family identity. #mswl

In middle grade, I really read quite widely. I'm particularly eager to find ambitious, emotional middle grade reads. Some favs include THE THING ABOUT LUCK; THE THING ABOUT JELLYFISH; HELLO UNIVERSE; the upcoming FROM THE DESK OF ZOE WASHINGTON. #mswl

Regardless of genre, some themes and subjects I love: family history/family identity; regret; sibling relationships; break-ups/romance gone sideways; extracurricular activities (such as sports, plays, mock trial), stories about letting go of shame, etc. #mswl

YA contemporary will ALWAYS be a go-to for me. I particularly love stories that deal with heartache but lead hope-first, where the optimism always bleeds through. #mswl

I'd love to find a YA paranormal (romance or not) that feels fresh and has epic external stakes & high internal drama (and I remain partial in particular to vampires and werewolves). I love monsters of all stripes & would love something like Rick Yancey's MONSTRUMOLOGIST. #mswl

In YA I'd love to find a thriller; something that is a compulsive page-turner & smart exploration of the ways we form meaning & identity during our teen years (which includes, surely, some number of secrets!) & how we examine & challenge the ideas & beliefs we've inherited. #mswl
