maybe i'm just in my seasonal When Harry Met Sally era but whether it's on the more commercial side or a bit more off-kilter (if you haven't read Happy All The Time then treat yourself), I want your grumpy, on-and-off, quibbling, reluctantly besotted friends/enemies to lovers

making this a thread of stray #mswl thoughts/updates/niche requests - not such a niche one this time, but despite loving books where people eat each other I also truly do love LOVE, specifically com-heavy-rom coms with a proper Nora Ephron style dryness to them

Adult: I want romance and mystery! Especially, cozy mystery ✨ Small-town romance, enemies-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, second chance, any romance, I'm here for it!

Young Adult: I'm actively looking for YA novels, especially contemporary, romance, and mystery/heist. If you have anything contemporary including sports (except for hockey) or food in some way, I'd love to read!

Middle Grade: I'm open to most genres of Middle Grade, although right now I'm mostly looking for a contemporary MG including sports, and a mystery MG ✨

Picture Books: I'm always looking for funny picture books, smart humor and puns; also, books full of heart with a strong emotional impact ☀️

EPISODE THIRTEEN was a fantastic read; the enhanced audio edition was brilliant. So many #mswl /favorite elements (an epistolary puzzle, a fresh take on hauntings, and the character development is *chef kiss*). I was genuinely frightened & moved to tears, especially by the ending

18. Three very important elements in opening pages for me are voice, tension, & curiosity! These are a MUST if I’m going to potentially request more material. Less backstory and world building, more scene action & character. Surprise me! Give me something I MUST keep reading for.

17. I *DO* want to see diversity in my inbox and in the world. *DO* send me LGBTQIA+ stories, diversity in families, etc.

I’m good with swears in books if it’s appropriately used/not overdone. Swearing for the sake of swearing in a 📖 is not my jam. (Even though I’m a swearer!)

16. My stance on AI: Do NOT send me anything generated by AI. That is not art, it’s a copout. AI is ok to do research but in no way, shape, or form should it be used to “create” a story. Humans do the storytelling; AI steals it. My opinion. 🤷🏼‍♀️
