Nerd Girl Says @Rachael_Conrad
Romcoms need to strive for this. Try harder. pic.twitter.com/kMYT3Rn5CVYeah, I’m just gonna add this one too… the awkward chemistry, the cat and mouse of it all… I’m here for it. Which one is going to make a real move first? #MSWL

Life come at you fast 🫠 pic.twitter.com/jXJBPwHiWIY’all, I am opening to queries on Sunday! THIS Sunday!! I’ll be posting a full MSWL then, but I’m here for a MC who has the best of intentions but sometimes “falls” into these situations… 😅😂🫠

One thing I'd like to note after @TheTobiasAgency #MSWL day is that for me it ALWAYS comes down to the quality of the writing--there's no substitute for an irresistible narrative voice. Of course there are genres I'm more comfortable with, but make sure the voice sparkles!

#amquerying folks: my #MSWL is now updated on the Manuscript Wishlist site! As of the new year, I AM open to select fantasy manuscripts. Details on that and more at manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/ismi… or my website, ismitahussain.com.

“Would love to read MG fantasy novels comparable to The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill or When You Trap a Tiger by Tae Keller.”

Yes, I’m binging Desperate Housewives again, and yes, I need anything and everything that feels like a 2023 version of the neighborhood ladies. Give me a bunch of millennials in an apartment complex with a whole mess of drama and someone with the shine of Gabrielle Solis #MSWL

The @TheTobiasAgency #mswl day is over, but I wanted to clarify: When I say I want anything under the SFF umbrella, most people know I mean fantasy and sci-fi but they don't realize I also want things that are other genres (mystery esp) with a speculative twist!

4) 2022 was a transition year for me (moving, roles, mentality, etc.), and I appreciate everyone who submitted their project to me! I know how frustrating it is to wait for a response, and my goal is to have a quicker turnaround time in 2023.
I really enjoy reading your work ✨

3) If I still have your partial or full, it’s still under consideration. I do apologize for the delay, yes feel free to nudge, and no I won’t take it personal if you ever decide to withdraw.
*Also, if you revised your MS while I have the partial/full, feel free to reach out

Hi Everyone 👋🏾
It’s a blah day in Brooklyn, and my extra shot of expresso just kicked, so I figured I’d hop on with some updates:
1) I plan on reopening to queries February 1st! Stay tuned for an updated #MSWL
2) I hope to have all outstanding queries answered by then.

This is vague, I know, but since it's #mswl day at @TheTobiasAgency, I would love to find a SFF/speculative in adult or ya that is weird but captivating. A little bit of "I have no idea what's going on but I am into it."

Making a rare Twitter appearance to say:- I reopened to queries today.
- I am now open to adult contemporary, commercial fiction (romcom, romance, mystery/thriller, etc) 😬
- I am scared.

#MSWL Some examples include:
Jennifer McMahon
Simone St. James
JACKAL
THE LOST VILLAGE
THE WIFE UPSTAIRS
THE HACIENDA
THE HISTORY OF WILD PLACES
I'm always looking to prioritize stories by marginalized voices in these spaces, as well as stories that focus on intersectionality

#MSWL I'm interested in more psychological reads in this realm and NOT as much paranormal monsters (zombies, vampires, werewolves, etc.), political thrillers, or police/detective/military stories.

#MSWL I’m getting a lot of great subs in since I opened up, but not a lot in what I’m REALLY hankering for right now: adult horror, thrillers, suspense whether they are grounded or have more of a supernatural element. I want to be unsettled and engrossed!

(And as always, if you can pitch your manuscript as "Twin Peaks meets romance" I will drop everything to read it. I am fully convinced this idea makes for a great romantic suspense novel and I will drop everything to read it.)

We still publish a lot of westerns, a lot of search and rescue, and the like. That won't change. But I'm newish and actively looking to add to my roster of authors, so if you have something different, send it along; I read every submission sent to me (might take a while but I do)
