This is a major want: give me your nonfiction emotional intelligence books. Narrative is okay IF you are a professional and have the science and research to back it up. I want the next The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F@ck. I'd also love to see an EQ book geared for teens.
"I want stories that celebrate neurodiversity, from authors who are themselves neurodivergent, both in fiction and nonfiction, middle grade, young adult, and adult."
I love nonfiction but have very little of it on my list! Let's fix that, eh? I'm looking for high concept projects with a fun, commercial bent supported by your fantastic platform. Teach me something—hobbies, cooking, gardening. I want an adventure! #MSWL
-I'm open to bios; I prefer women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and/or otherwise underrepresented subjects (POLIO PIONEER by Linda Elovitz Marshall, NIKI NAKAYMA: A CHEF’S TALE IN 13 BITES by Debbi Michiko Florence)
-Informative with some wit, like Mary Roach for kids
Anthology pitches: The industry remains divided on them, so my consideration may be a bit narrower than novels, but I’m interested, for both fiction and nonfiction. (THIS IS OUR RAINBOW was a favorite!)
"I'm looking for nonfiction books on occult topics, like BECOMING DANGEROUS edited by Katie West, WITCHES OF AMERICA by Alex Mar, and Taschen’s THE LIBRARY OF ESOTERICA series."
"My taste in nonfiction is eclectic: no title is too serious or too accessible. And I'm open to all categories *except* for sports, music, and true crime."
The main things I’m on the lookout for are:
📗 High concept fiction w/ a quirky cast of characters (MG & YA/all genres)
📘Bold & magical graphic novels (MG & YA/all genres)
📙Fresh & fascinating narrative nonfiction (MG & YA)
Taj McCoy (she/her) is on deadline @tajmccoywritesY’all, I went on a date recently. Nice guy, single dad, not looking to have more kids. We had a great time, but later he told me that there wouldn’t be another date because his profile said clearly that he’s against drug use.
Reader, he was talking about birth control pills.
I am perpetually living the set-up beat of a romcom. It’s like Groundhog Day but with all the meet cutes you wish you’d never experienced…
I’m a good sport though, so if anyone has a proposal for a non-fiction humor book on dating where this is your issue, #MSWL.
#mswl Something I've been thinking about a lot is practical things that I would have loved to learn in school but didn't. Like how to pick up a box properly, change a tire, fix a sink, build your core, deal with emotions, etc. Dm if you have an #nf like this - any age level!
The categories I’m looking for, in order of priority, are:
- YA and MG graphic novels from author-illustrators (one person)
- MG and YA prose novels
- Nonfiction for kids and teens
- Chapter books and picture books from author-illustrators (one person)
