One of my dream #MSWL books is a horror novel set in a cave -- think The Descent for books. Claustrophobic, dark, encroaching madness...bonus points for historical setting, an ambiguous ending, or a queer romance subplot. Antarctica horror would be cool too I guess 💁‍♀️

right now, I am particularly thirsty for queer romance (high concept, speculative, or historical), grounded fantasy (cozy or literary > epic), and literary fiction about gender and the body, queer and trans histories and futures, and characters who are trying hard to imagine a kinder world.

Elements I gravitate toward include:

-- diaspora, third-culture, & semi-visible "other"nesses
-- nerds, scholars, niche experts
-- nature & ecosystems
-- communication, translation, deciphering
-- quieter & more communal kinds of resistance (e.g. unions, Bartleby)
