“YA non-fiction: Memoir, essay collections, you name it. Queer There & Everywhere is probably my favorite YA non-fic title in recent memory, and a great example of what I’d like to see.” @ericsmithrocks #MSWL ericsmithrocks.com/mswl

I'm just a girl, standing in front of publishing, asking them to publish stories about disabled characters... by authors who have those disabilities. 🙏Yes!! I’m opening to queries on July 1, and I’d love to receive manuscripts with disabled characters! Also #BIPOC & #LGBTQ+. Would especially love indigenous characters/stories. Check out my #MSWL while you wait! manuscriptwishlist.com/mswl-post/cath…

#mswl BIPOC mythology! I don't know half as much as I should and I want stories that show me your glorious culture, your timeless stories, and your characters in all their facets. Bonus if it's gay (although strikes me all mythology should be gay!!)

I literally only write bi mcs and yet I’m still nervous that my books won’t be considered queer enough bc they often feature opp-sex relationships and that’s f’d up!!!! BISEXUAL PEOPLE IN RELATIONSHIPS ARE IN QUEER RELATIONSHIPS REGARDLESS OF THEIR PARTNER’S IDENTITY AND GENDERTHIS. My #MSWL includes all kinds of Bi and queer relationships, but as a straight agent I worry if I call for opposite-sex romance in bi rep I may sound like “make it gay… just not TOO gay.” I want bi teens in all their glory!

More in fiction: joyous LGBTQ+ characters. Contemporary, literary takes on the Western that critique genre tropes. Speculative/magical realism elements that are grounded in the “real” world (think Nothing To See Here, The Pisces)

I’d love to see subversive, sexual, queer women gone rogue (Melissa-Broder-type characters who are shamelessly off-putting, and have not only rejected gender roles, but all social expectations entirely)—Think: Sedating Elaine, The Pisces, Otessa Moshfegh
