listen. obvs im glad for any and all queer & trans books, but ya NEEDS to start showing up for trans femme stories and writers the way it has (recently started to) for trans masc stories and writersHave been thinking a lot about this lately. The majority of trans books I get are trans masc and I've honestly been dying to find more trans femme.
Please send! We need your voices! #mswl

So, agents and authors, I am closing to submissions on March 1 to allow time to review everything before I go on leave. If you have plans to query me, please get your submission in and direct your query to me (@fluxbooks or @jollyfishpress) before the deadline.(2/5)
As far as my #mswl goes, right now I’m looking for mostly character-driven YA with a killer voice featuring one or more of these things:
-intersectional feminist and environmentally conscious themes
-activism
-LGBTQIA+ characters (esp. trans, bisexual, and asexual youth)

sometimes the books just happen to feature queer and/or BIOOC characters existing in ways that don’t center trauma. There is value in that too. Y’all let white/cishet books just exist without speaking to some profound life lesson. Keep that same energy with us.THIS!
These are the books I want. #MSWL

Adult Fiction:
(Women's fiction) psychological thrillers/suspense, mystery, & family/friendship drama. I gravitate towards upmarket/commercial.
(Contemporary Romance) rom-coms, rom-coms & more rom-coms! Would love to see more LGBTQ+, diversity, relatable, & unique plots.

YA Fiction:
Rom-coms, paranormal romance, dystopian romance, science fiction/fantasy/speculative, & thriller/suspense. I would love to see: diversity, LGBTQ+, environmental issues/climate change, school settings, and mental health.

As always, I am looking to amplify the voices of BIPOC, disabled, and LGBTQ+ authors. Anything set somewhere other than America is likely to catch my eye, and so are projects with non-binary and trans MCs.

I would love to see more high-concept horror, in settings or time periods that feel new. Queer horror (think THE DEAD AND THE DARK or WILDER GIRLS but adult), gothic, and psychological horror are my favorites, but I never know what I'm going to fall in love with!

Contemporary! Any fiction that features a queer/BIPOC character finding their way in life, especially in that new adult space, is for me! Think "Luster", "Such a Fun Age", or "It's Been A Pleasure, Noni Blake"

Mysteries! I adore mysteries that rework classics like "The Wife Upstairs" or "One by One". Give me all your queer/BIPOC historical mysteries such as "Dead Dead Girls". I want queer/BIPOC Agatha Christie, friends!

Literary Agent
Nonfiction! Anything with a queer or feminist bent is right up my alley. Think "We Keep the Dead Close"; "In the Dream House"; "Eloquent Rage"; "Know My Name"; and "Romantic Outlaws"

Literary Agent
Romance! As my genre of choice, I'm especially looking for queer baking rom-coms like Rosaline Palmer; sweet holiday romances; books that tackle relationships + mental health like "The Charm Offensive"; and historical romances like "A League of Extraordinary Women" or Kit Webb

Books about books! Why is there nothing more satisfying than reading books about authors/writers/editors/booksellers/book lovers? Bring me your queer/BIPOC "Beach Read"s and "Fangirl"s!
