Fantasy Romance: My forever favourite. I enjoy all the usual tropes, but I would LOVE to see an original hook or different take on the genre.

A hyperspecific #mswl ask this morning, but I’d really love to see any fantasy or horror inspired by the Florida wetlands.

I will be open to most genres of YA and Adult including but not limited to contemporary, romance, thriller, speculative, dystopian, issue-driven, fantasy, eco-fiction, sci-fi. Here's some things I'll be keeping my eye out for. (1/8)

My bookshelf is 50% character-driven sff/speculative/spooky, 50% realistic contemporary/historical (coming-of-age romance, mystery/thriller, action-adventure, and verse novels), mostly by BIPOC, queer, or traditionally underrepresented folks, & my taste very much reflects that.

#MSWL Agents, I've been seeing some fantastic YA sff subs. I'll never say no to sff that captures my heart, but I'm also on the lookout for gorgeously written verse/prose, layered coming-of-age (historical or contemp) esp if it weaves in queer romance and/or mystery/suspense.

I just played/finished Venba (takes less than 90min, maybe less than an hour?)

In modern fantasy I'm looking for things like Jade City. Give me family shenanigans, politics, with really unique magic systems. Babel and Black Sun are always top on my list. Overall anything with colonizer bashing themes, non-western mythos, pirates, or dark academics
