In YA, I'd love to see:
🌞Queer romance
🌞Thrillers with isolated settings
🌞Horror with gothic and atmospheric vibes
🌞Historical that centers on POC stories
🌞Subversive and dark fantasy

In Middle Grade, I'd love to see:
⚽️Fantasy inspired by myths, folklore, or legends
⚽️Historical that centers POC stories
⚽️Contemporary with an environmental bent
⚽️Horror with ghosts, creepy crawlies, and witches
⚽️Growing up in non-traditional settings
⚽️Earth-based sci-fi

On the fantasy side, I still tend toward contemporary fantasy -- especially because of the potential for goofy MG shenanigans -- however I'm more open to higher fantasy in MG.

Some of my faves: AMARI AND THE NIGHT BROTHERS; GHOST SQUAD.

MG

I tend toward upper MG, and love fantasy and contemporary narratives, but voice is the most important element for me in this age category. I want funny/quirky/snarky MG voices, something really strong that hooks you in immediately.

While I love a good contemporary fantasy (whether lighter/funnier or darker/creepier) I am not usually the right person for YA high fantasy. You can still query me with your high fantasy stories, but it's likely it won't be for me as my interests are so limited here.

I am pretty picky with my YA spec fic interests, and it's sort of an "I'll know it when I see it" situation. That being said, I tend toward contemporary fantasy, horror, and/or relatively grounded narratives that feature some kind of speculative twist (i.e.: CEMETERY BOYS).

The broadest strokes are that I'm looking for Adult romance; YA romcoms, contemporary, and the odd spec fic; and MG contemporary and fantasy. Specifics below.

YA and adult fantasy books that deal with religion, both fictional faiths like SEVEN FACELESS SAINTS and real ones like WHEN THE ANGELS LEFT THE OLD COUNTRY and ANGELS BEFORE MAN.

Fantasy romance, especially queer fantasy romance, like A MARVELLOUS LIGHT. Happy to receive both dark and cozy romances!
